Watershed and Ocean Ecosystems
1. Water pollution
2. Oil spills
Effect on ecosystems
The Most plants and animals live in areas with very specific climate conditions, such as temperature and rainfall patterns, that enable them to thrive. Any change in the climate of an area can affect the plants and animals living there, as well as the makeup of the entire ecosystem. Some species are already responding to a warmer climate by moving to cooler locations.
Some North American animals and plants are moving farther north or to higher elevations to find suitable places to live. Climate change also alters the life cycles of plants and animals. For example, as temperatures get warmer, many plants are starting to grow and bloom earlier in the spring and survive longer into the fall. Some animals are waking from hibernation sooner or migrating at different times, too.
Water Pollution- Water pollution is the contamination of lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers and groundwater This form of environmental degradation occurs Pollutants
Positive- Company's clean up the dirty water and bring it back to clean water instead of living with it dirty
Dirty water is the world's biggest health risk, and continues to threaten both quality of life and public health in the United States. When water from rain and melting snow run offs and roofs and roads into our rivers, it picks up toxic chemicals, dirt, trash and disease-carrying organisms along the way
Oil Spills- a Oil Spill is the release of a liquid petroleum hydrocarbon into the environment, especially marine areas, due to human activity
Its good for the local economy and creates business and employment opportunities.
Negative- Oil Harms Animals Plants and chemical constituents are poisonous and could also effect organisms
Littering - Making objects lying out in the Earth
Positive - Picking up one piece of litter everyday making sure that your trash cans have lids or telling other people not to litter because its bad for the environment
Negative-Littering in the streets and not help clean the environment or not caring enough to litter
