BHS Warrior Wire

Brook Haven Middle School, August 2018 Edition

Way to start the year, Warriors!

We are so thankful to all of our students and staff who helped make our first few weeks of school a success! We know it is hard to get back into the routine of the school year, but our team of students and staff have hit the ground running. We've watched teamwork make the dream work through our first day of school spirit assembly (what do you think of our new spirit shirts?) Team Day kickoff, Pancake Breakfast and more!

A big thank you to our families for re-routing your pick up and drop offs these first few days too. Keeping our students safe is our #1 priority and we've found keeping the parking lot clear of the drop off lines is best. We'd like to continue to keep the parking lot for the bus and just for people who are parking and coming in to the office or classrooms. Please remind your student to use the crosswalks and remember that bike riders need to stop at stop signs too!

Be Safe~ Be Respectful~ Be Responsible~ It's the #warriorway!

During our first Team Day we brainstormed what it meant to be a BH Warrior. We will be using #warriorway to encourage safe, respectful, responsible behavior in all aspects of our lives. Whether it is at home, in the classroom, on a field or court, we believe our students should prove they are true Warriors.

Sports Coming Up!

6th/7th/8th GRADE BOYS & GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: The first practice is on Tuesday, August 28 at 7:00am. The team runs every Tuesday & Thursday morning. Meet Mr. Garrison in the gym ready to run. The season continues through October with meets on Friday afternoons.

6th/7th/8th GRADE BOYS FLAG FOOTBALL & 7th GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL: These seasons are starting quickly. Please sign up in the office if you are interested in playing/trying out for a team. You'll need to pick up and return a Sports Packet. We are still looking for 7th & 8th flag football coaches. Let the office know if you know anyone who can help!

Big picture

Something New- Advisory!

Last week we began something new for 6th, 7th, 8th graders. Advisory! This twice a week 30-minute class will be an opportunity to work on many different activities including organizational skills, assessment, digital citizenship and goal setting. Most importantly, this is a wonderful opportunity for relationship building and time to connect with classmates and another teacher. We expect all of our students to put forth an excellent effort and use their time wisely during this period.

Don't Forget!

Please make sure your printed registration paperwork is turned into the office or your student's 1st-period class along with the $12.00 donation for your planner & t-shirt. If you need help completing the registration on the AERIES portal, please contact Stephanie Jenkins in the BH office or at
