Wrightstown Ravens' News
September 24, 2021
The upcoming weekend weather looks perfect! I hope that you enjoy it. There is a lot of new information included in this newsletter as we begin to implement some past activities such as Running Club and Pretzel Sales! Don't forget to purchase your Ravens' Spirit Wear on sale now! Information is included below. October is Fire Prevention Month. Firemen from Lingohocken Fire Company will visit all grades to discuss fire safety on October 8th. All students will come home today with a poster to decorate. This activity is optional but encouraged! A letter is also attached. Posters are due by Friday, October 8th.
Lastly, the nurse's office is accepting donations for younger boys' pants, sweat pants, and shorts that are no longer needed. If you have any of these items to donate, please drop them off at the nurse's office. Thank you in advance!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Beth

Reviewing School Year Expectations
Over the next couple of weeks, I will be meeting with all grade levels to review some important School Board Policies related to topics such as weapons, bullying, and harassment as well as behavior expectations for the school year. Please know that these meetings are age-appropriate.
Counselor's Corner
Now that we have completed our first full week of school, here is a SEL home connection to learn more about your child’s school day. Instead of asking “How was your day?” try this: Ask your child to share a Rose, a Thorn, and a Bud.
Rose: A highlight, success, or something positive that happened.
Thorn: A challenge or something they need help with.
Bud: New ideas that have blossomed or something they are looking forward to learning or experiencing.
I hope this helps facilitate a great conversation about all of the awesome things happening at WES!
All the best,
Mrs. Barbara Aiello
Reading at Wrightstown from Mrs. Etgen
Wrightstown students have already been working hard at reading this year! With the help of the Title One assistance, Mrs. Keen, and myself, we have had the pleasure of reading with each student at Wrightstown this year! This reading snapshot enables us to get a glimpse of each student’s strengths and weaknesses when it comes to reading. Please keep in mind that, as the literacy specialist in the building, I often read with many of the students, both in and out of the classroom. Sometimes I co-teach, and other times I work on special topics or projects. If your child is chosen to participate in the reading intervention program, you will be notified and given a permission note. Also, please know that your input is important and you are always a part of our teaching team! Although we see your child daily in the school, if you see struggles with reading activities at home, please reach out and let us know. If you have any questions or need book suggestions, feel free to check out the links on my website, or email me at petgen@crsd.org . Lastly, as always, take the time to read with your child and enjoy that special time together - no matter how old they are!

Home Access Center Demographic Information Update
As a reminder, at the start of every school year, the Council Rock School District requires parents/guardians to verify their demographic information through Home Access Center (HAC). Here are the directions in completing this task:
- Login to HAC.
- Click on Update Registration tab and look for the word NEW in the middle of the screen. Click on that link to open the Demographic Update Form 2021.
- You can review information on the form by expanding the + sign in each area, but must add the required fields for Medication Authorization and Publicity Exclusion.
- Click I Agree when done then Submit.
There have been times when I was unable to reach a parent by email or phone because the contact information was incorrect. Please be sure to complete the review process so that the school staff can contact you if there is ever an urgent need to do so. Thank you.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM CHARTWELLS REGARDING STUDENT GETTING LUNCHES AT SCHOOL
Please take a moment to read the following letter from Chartwells at this LINK. It includes information about what IS and IS NOT included in the free lunch program. Specifically, the letter states:
A student receiving a free meal must choose at least 3 items for the lunch to be considered complete as per the Department of Child Nutrition regulations, one of which must be at least a half-cup serving of a fruit or vegetable. Anything less than this will be considered an a la carte purchase and must be paid for by the student.
