LEAP 2025
All 3rd-5th grade students will take the LEAP 2025 state assessment on April 26th-May 2nd. This state-mandated test is divided into four sections: English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
You can help your child achieve his/her best by encouraging him/her to:
Go to bed early and get plenty of rest.
Enjoy a healthy breakfast each morning and stay hydrated.
Be at school each day.
Arrive at school on time. (7:45- 8:05)
Attendance is crucial during testing dates. Students who have to make up tests typically do not do as well as they would have in their daily classroom environment. Please do not check your child out of school during testing. Once the session has started, students must finish the session and are not allowed to return to it at a later date.
Even though state testing can bring about some stress for us all, we feel confident that our students are prepared due to the high-quality instruction they receive daily. We look forward to the testing results this summer and are always so proud of our student's performance.
These results guide us in making instructional decisions for your child as well as the school.

Month of the Military Child
April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, emphasizing the important role military children play in the armed forces community. All students are invited to participate in Purple Up Day on April 14th by wearing a purple shirt with uniform bottoms to show support for our military students.
Military Lunch on the Lawn
At Stockwell Place, we celebrate our military families by hosting a Lunch on the Lawn. All parents that are active, reserve, or retired are invited to join their student(s) for lunch. We will also have games and a treat for all parents and students. Parents may begin checking in at 10:45. Lunch is from 11:00-12:00. Be sure to bring your lunch, chairs, and blankets. If you plan to attend, complete the link to RSVP. All RSVPs must be received by Wednesday, April 12th.
National Paraprofessional Appreciation Day, April 5th
Paraprofessionals provide instructional, behavioral, and other support to students in and outside of the classroom. Our paras go above and beyond for our students and they are simply the best. Thank you for all that you do for our students: Mrs. Ball, Mrs. Rodgers, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Carr, Mrs. Theodos, Mrs. Dabkowski, Mrs. Dupree, Mrs. Askew, Mrs. Finklea, Mrs. Green, and Mrs. Hughes. If you would like to show appreciation to these ladies you can send an email, write a letter, or bring a small gift of appreciation.

Lexia Core 5
What is Lexia?
How Does Lexia Help My Child?
At the end of October, all students took the Lexia Core 5 placement test. The placement test placed all students at an instructional level that is based on their skill level, not their current grade level. Because of the placement test, Lexia meets the needs of all students. If your student is struggling with any of the six instructional areas of reading, Lexia will work to fill any gaps and help your student to catch up. If your student is reading on grade level or above, Lexia will enrich their learning by challenging them.
As beginning readers, Lexia meets the needs of all of our K-2nd grade students by reinforcing the skills they are learning in class. Lexia is not only important for our K-2nd grade students, but it is essential for our 3rd-5th grade students. Due to Covid, most of our 3rd-5th grade students have gaps from lost learning during the pandemic. We are seeing evidence of these gaps in their reading, spelling, and writing. Lexia is assisting our teachers in filling these gaps that are crucial for our students to master by the end of 5th grade.
How Can I Help My Child?
While students have time to work on Lexia at school, many of our students will need to complete their Lexia units at home for homework. Directions to log in are below.
At Stockwell, we are focused on the number of units gained each week. Teachers have communicated with students about their units per week goal. Students who meet their units gained goal will be rewarded each week. To check their units gained each week, check the home page when students log in to Lexia. A sample screen is shown below.
If you do not have a computer for your student to work on Lexia at home, click here to request a Chromebook to check out.
Thank you for supporting us in our efforts to make sure every student ends the school year on grade level.
