AMCMS Principal's Office
What is going on in the Principal's Office?
My Challenge to You
Below is the text of what Nick Foles said in the interivew
Did you happen to catch Nick Foles's post-game interview after the super bowl? I didn't either. Later in the week my twitter feed was buzzing with clips of his speech. My wife told me about it and I thought I better check this out. I think you should too.
The video is above and I even found where someone on Twitter posted a transcript of what he had to say. Listen to it and then read it. It will resonate with you... at least it should.
Without failure, where would you be? You cannot be successful with everything that you do each time you attempt it. That is not realistic and practically impossible. Yet, we live in a time where social media feeds are filled with our best sides... our accomplishments.... our successes.
Don't believe all of the hype. For every success you can bet there are multiple failures.
We need to remember this as educators. We are not always going to be successful in all that we do. Remember, you have permission to fail in your work as long as you are trying to do what is best for your kids. I want you to try new things. I want you to take risks. I want you to encourage your kids to do the same think in your classrooms. They need to learn that failure is a part of success. You cannot have one without the other... we just seem to remember the success more than we remember the failures.
The next time you find yourself struggling just remember what Nick Foles said: "If something's going on in your life and your struggling, embrace it because your growing."
Think. Achieve. Succeed.
Jeff

AMCMS SPED Tip of the Week
Amp Up Your Visuals:
Including visuals with instruction can help all students to better comprehend the information being presented. Pictures and videos are great! But have you considered including visuals embedded within the classroom environment? Enter Augmented Reality: Think Pokemon Go
Check out this quick demo of how AR can work in your classroom:
Hp Reval (formerly Aurasma) - pictures or items in the environment, when scanned, can reveal additional information - a video, a picture, etc - these can be student or teacher created!
EON Experience VR - This app has lot of pre-loaded topics that could be applied in the classroom. Once you set the target image that needs to be scanned, students will get an awesome 3d and audio experience superimposed on reality!
Technology Tip of the Week
Google Forms
Many of you have probably used Google Forms to gather information and maybe even as a quiz. These are great ways to use Google Forms but have you ever considered using it as Exit Ticket? I saw this idea at the TCEA conference I was at last week and thought it was a cool idea. See below for an example for an exit ticket using Google Forms.
