In support of the #bringbackourgirls campaign
Summary
Quiet Aspen Photography will be offering 45 minute photo sessions to girls of all ages on August 15 & 16, 2014. The sessions will take place at Legion Park in Fort Frances, Ontario. There will be NO session fees or costs associated with print release. Each client will receive a disc or a USB key with 12-20 fully edited, high resolution pictures from the session.
In return for services, clients are asked to make a donation to Equality Now (www.equalitynow.org), or to Building Walls of Wisdom (www.buildwow.com). Clients may choose to donate any amount that they can afford (I simply request that clients make a fair contribution, keeping the intent of this project in mind).

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Boys Participate?
What Ages Are Allowed?
Can girls share a photo session (e.g., sisters)?
Is there really no cost?
I do not want clients to consider these to be "free" sessions; I want them to donate whatever they think the pictures are worth to Equality Now or Building Walls of Wisdom (keeping in mind that mini sessions with digital images typically cost $100+). That being said, one of the other reasons that I'm doing these sessions is to allow ALL girls the opportunity to have professional pictures taken - every girl deserves to feel special and beautiful!
To that end, if you can only afford $5.00, that's just fine. :) I will not be collecting donations...you may donate online at your convenience. Alternatively, you can choose to "pay it forward" in some other (non-monetary) manner.
What to wear?
I will send registered clients a comprehensive package including tips on what to wear, what to bring, what to expect, and what not to do. :)
These photo sessions are meant to celebrate the diversity and beauty of all girls; if your girl typically wears overalls and plays with frogs, that's okay - I can capture that! On the other hand, if you'd like your little princess to look like one, no problem - bring on the tiaras!
What can I expect in terms of the quality/style of the images?
Please have a look at my Facebook page in order to get a feel for my photographic style. Keep in mind that images posted on the web are highly compressed; you will receive high quality, high resolution photos.
I will have numerous props available for the girls to use and to serve as backdrops. My intent with these mini sessions is to capture the beauty, innocence, playfulness, and unique qualities of each girl. I will attempt to capture a mixture of posed portraits along with lifestyle ("candid") images in order to best reflect the girls' personalities.
Why are you doing this?
Sadly, the nearly 300 school girls that were abducted in Nigeria in April of this year have not yet been returned to their families. This, and other crimes against women and girls around the world continue to occur at an alarming rate. I believe that organizations such as Equality Now and Building Walls of Wisdom are necessary to help prevent the unfair treatment of women and girls.
On a personal level, I have a five-year-old daughter, and I can't imagine the torment that the mothers of the Nigerian school girls have been going through. I feel that a need to help in some way.
