May 2018

As the end of the school year quickly approaches, it is important for students to keep up their momentum and not lose steam. Students contract “summer fever” and begin to slack off or lose interest in school work. The following link includes helpful tips for students to finish out the school year strong!

Mix It Up @ Lunch Day

We are going to have another Mix It Up at Lunch Day on Tuesday-May 22, 2018. Remember, the purpose of the event is for students to cross social boundaries and get to know someone new. Check out the video below from our first Mix It Up @ Lunch Day from October 2017!

Celebrate Culture

In 1992, the official designation of May as Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month was signed into law. The month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. The majority of the workers who laid the tracks were Chinese immigrants.
May is also Jewish American Heritage Month, established by President George W. Bush in 2006. A national month of recognition of the more than 360-year history of Jewish contributions to American culture, JAHM acknowledges the achievements of American Jews in fields ranging from sports and arts and entertainment to medicine, business, science, government, and military service.
