MPES Library News
If you have requested my help to organize your classroom library and I have not responded, please contact me again. I will do my best to get to all of you as soon as possible.
Morning checkout options
I do ask that the students check-in with you first and complete their morning tasks (attendance, lunch count, and any morning work). If they have any remaining time, they are welcome to come up and exchange materials. I would ask that you stop sending students to the library between 8:05 and 8:10. This will allow me to assist the students in selecting their new books and get them back to class on time.
Last 15 minutes of class
I wanted to share some information with you regarding your role in the library during check out. When you come to the library to assist with book selection (I-Pick) I am asking for your help in two areas. One is assisting me with locating books for students. The other is managing the independent reading time. We have gone over the expectations during September so they should be aware of what good reading looks like in my room.
While you are assisting with those areas, I will be checking any book returns, helping students find their books, and checking their new books out. If you would like a tour of the library and how it is organized, please stop by and I will be happy to show you around.
Returning library books
Idea #1 - Return all library books before 8:30. This may not be a good option for you if you have STEM 1st block.
Idea #2 - Have your students carry their library books with them to library and return them as they enter.
***Policy Reminder*** Students are responsible for bringing their library books to the library on their scheduled day. If they forget them at home or in the classroom, they will be given alternative reading options. I do not allow any students to go back to class to retrieve their library books.
Classroom Library Books
I do have some classroom library books/Battle of the Books books (with no names) in a wire display case near the circulation desk. Please stop by and take them if they are yours or if you think they are yours.
