What We Are Learning This Week
Language Arts: Our story of the week will be Turk and Runt by Lisa Wheeler. This is Thanksgiving comedy and we will have so much fun with this book throughout the week. We will be making and confirming predictions, identifying a moral lesson, sequencing and looking at parts of speech including adjectives, verbs and nouns. Our spelling list for this week will be words pulled from our 2nd grade high frequency word list. We will have our spelling test on November 20th. Please be sure to practice with your child.
Social Studies: We will be discussing the first Thanksgiving. We will be working with vocabulary and researching using Blendspace.
Math: This week we will continue to work on adding up to four two-digit numbers. We will introduce word problems and focus on how to dissect word problems to understand what the problem is asking.
Science: This week we will continue learning about the weather and begin looking for patterns in the data we have collected. Students will also be introduced to the moon phases.
