Mrs. I's Counseling Connections

LTUSD Family Edition- October/November 2021

Meet the School Counselor - Mrs. Ilvento

I have had the great fortune of working as an upper elementary and middle school teacher for the past 18 years. My love for teaching and education has expanded beyond the classroom, and it is my passion for student advocacy, equity in education and social emotional learning that has led me to a career in counseling. In my personal life, I have a strong passion for nature and our environment. I am an avid runner and love any and all water sports. My two sons are my pride and joy. My husband and I both feel extremely blessed and are in awe of wonderful human beings that they are turning out to be.

My Role

As the elementary school counselor for the district, I will be visiting each school once per week. I will be supporting the teachers and classrooms by implementing classroom lessons on topics to help students develop positive social-emotional skills and strategies for success in all areas of their lives. I will also provide group and individual counseling for extra support while responding to special needs. Engaging students in opportunities to promote student resiliency, leadership skills and positive peer relationships will be a focus this year as we start to rebuild lost connections. I hope to build collaborative relationships with schools and families in order to best support the whole child.
