Fourth Grade News
Week of February 2, 2016
Adios Amigo!
Last Friday, the fourth graders bid farewell to our Spanish visitor, Constantino Arroyo, who spent the last two months with us in fourth grade. It was a wonderful experience for all of the students, and we hope to continue the friendships made through emails, letters, and skype, once Constantino returns to his school in Burgos, Spain.
Huge Thanks for Supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!
Big thanks to all our fourth grade students and families for your incredible generosity in support of the 7th grade service project to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The fourth graders far exceeded our goal, and together collected over $500. We couldn't be more proud of their dedication and generosity in helping this worthy cause.
Mardi Gras is Here! Please Save Your Beads to Donate!!
Mardi Gras is always an exciting time of year for all of us in New Orleans, and particularly for us here at St.George's, where the parades pass right by our door. To accommodate our families who will be parading this week, we will not be assigning homework for the remainder of the week. Please use this week and next to have your child work on memorizing his /her lines for our upcoming play. We will resume play practice when we return, and it will take much less time out of schedule if the students have a good sense of their lines.
REMINDER : When you're out catching those beads, please remember to save them for our donations to St. Michael's School and The Strive Center, where the beads will be sorted and sold to help fund programs and provide supplies for students with special needs. We will begin collecting the beads after the Mardi Gras break. Thank you!!

Come Support our 4th Grade Band Concert Tonight!
We started the "No Homework" policy one night early to allow all of our fourth graders the opportunity to take part in the 4th Grade Beginning Band Concert tonight, Feb. 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Salem Theater, either as a musician or a supporter. The band students are excited to show us what they've been working on, and we look forward to their concert. Refreshments will be served. Hope to see you there!
Valentine's Exchange this Friday, Feb. 5th!
This Friday, we will have an early Valentine's Day exchange in 4th grade. The students may each bring in Valentines for all 29 fourth graders. The cards do not need to be individually addressed, but please make sure your child signs each card so the recipients know who they're from. Small trinkets and/or treats are permitted with the Valentines, but these will be sent home with the students and not eaten at school - okay, maybe just one! ; )
Have a Happy Valentine's Day!
