Sunday Shakedown
Weekly Memo for Washington Elementary
Principal Post
Thank yous, appreciations, and celebrations:
- Thanks to RATS and LCB for another great celebration of learning. These programs always warm our hearts!
- Please thank your students for being great audience members. I video recorded a clip and they were almost all following procedures, it looked great.
- Thanks for following cafeteria procedures, while I covered a few lunches I noticed students self-correcting when they started to get up without permission, sitting properly at tables and keeping their trash and food in their personal space.
- Congrats to Lisa H for a successful run at the Boston Marathon
- Continued thanks to Sue and Amy, our testing has gone well so far and although it is stressful and full of decisions, they are staying poised, focused and flexible
- Thanks to RATS, LCA, LCB, LCF, LCD for your flexibility in changing schedules when needed over this two weeks.
- Thanks to LCB students for receiving compliments from some of the businesses visited on your field trip-great to hear they were polite and had lots of great questions
- Thanks to our K-2 classes for supporting the older students with proper hallway procedures, encouraging notes and treats, and for hosting non-tested students
- Thanks to our IAs for coming in early and having a great attitude toward this busy time
- Congrats to Melanie Phillips who has received an interim position at Kennedy in sped Pre K for the end of the year. She will return to us in the fall. (Last day here is Friday)
- Welcome to Scott Davis, new IA in SLE for communication/behavior. He will begin on the 30th.
- Congratulations to Debbie Starnes, who has been out since November. She has decided to retire at the end of the year after her leave. We wish her continued health improvements and wonderful time with family. She is still receiving email should you wish to reach out to her.

FYI and Reminders:
- For classified staff, all comp time must be used before the end of the year. Talk with me about flexibly scheduling this time off so as to not have too many out on the same day.
- Please remember that fundraising sites like "Go fund Me" ,"Donor's Choose" and "Fundly" are not allowed in KCS. No KCS employee raising money for KCS, your classroom, or school events can use these sights to raise funds. Secondly, if you are applying for any kind of grant you must follow KCS procedures. This means that you complete an Intent To Apply form. This form starts the process with the district to "register" your fundraiser and clarifies any district wide concerns with a particular grant or grant funding. You may not apply for a grant unless this form is completed accurately, returned to ASC, and gets Board approval. Amy Doran (378-2174 ) can answer any follow up questions.
- We will have end of year packets ready by May 1st and that will include professionalism documentation. I plan to try to do all of this electronically on Google...I will keep you posted.
