These Trojans Went on a Raid of Their Own

That's right, these Trojans went on a raid and got the first buck of the season! The Lady Trojans defeated Buckhorn and Randolph yesterday. "Loud and Proud, Trojan Nation!"

All Junior & Seniors UAH College and Career Day

All 11th or 12th graders will attend College and Career Day at UAH. Just as a reminder, AM Tech students will remain in the lunchroom until we depart. All PM Tech students will go to lunchroom upon our return from Career Day. 11th graders will eat lunch at 10:30 AM, and then will load the bus in car line area. 12th graders will load the bus at 10:50 AM in the front of the school. 12th graders will eat lunch when they return around 1:10 PM. The lunch schedule will remain as scheduled for everyone else. No juniors or seniors are allowed to drive themselves to College and Career Day! Have a safe and wonderful trip!

Tomorrow is Bow-Tie Thursday

Don't forget tomorrow is Bow-Tie Thursday and no bow-tie is off limits. Let's see you rock the plaid or skull candy bow-tie!

Engineering Explorer Post with Dynetics

The Engineering Explorer Post with Dynetics is having their kick-off Open House next Tuesday, September 8th, 6:30 PM at their campus in Research Park. This is a great opportunity for your students who are interested in careers related to engineering and aerospace to get a real behind-the-scenes look at these careers.

Wendy's Spirit Night

Partnership for a Drug-Free Community

Trojan Family,

The Partnership is recruiting teens for Today's Youth, Tomorrow's Leaders, a program where youth grades 10-12 are trained to be advocates for a drug-free lifestyle. Here is a PDF for more information and an application form if you are interested in joining the group.

Scholars Bowl Meeting Today

If you are interested in participating in Scholars’ Bowl this school year, but are not currently in the class, please attend today's afterschool interest meeting in Mr. Hunter’s room, S112. Every year our school has multiple teams that compete, and there are several spots available for those who can think fast and have a desire to learn more!

I ♥ Fridays

Friday is Half-Day for Students:

Just a reminder that September 4th is a half-day of school for students. We will serve breakfast, and grab and go lunches will start at 11:00 AM.

Car riders and drivers will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.

Bus riders will be dismissed at 11:50 PM.

November 10th, February 12th, and April 15th will also be half-days for the students. On these days, only students will be dismissed early, and employees will participate in professional development for the remainder of the day.

Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form in to Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.

Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend
- Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.

1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.

2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.

3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.

Juniors Have Free Access to ACT Online Prep - All juniors will receive a personal user name and password to the ACT Online Prep website. This is a great resource to be used in preparing for the ACT Plus Writing assessment which will be given to all of our juniors during school. All students are strongly encouraged to utilize this service provided to us. For more information, visit

First Priority/FCS
meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00 in the Black Box Theatre. All students are welcome to attend.

Parenting Assistance Line:
PAL is a service where anyone can call a toll free number 1-866-962-3030 and receive useful, practical information and assistance with developmental and parenting questions and concerns. Available 8:00am – 8:00pm (central time) Monday – Friday.

Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.

Reward Cards:
Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit:
Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.

Loyalty Reward Tags:
(Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy.
