The Principal's Desk At Sycamore

August 31, 2018

Parents/Guardians,

I have enjoyed my two weeks as the "substitute principal" at Sycamore Elementary School. The talented staff and assistant principals have continued their laser focus on teaching and learning and your students are in wonderful hands each day. Sycamore is blessed with an amazing staff, students and parents. Please continue to partner with your child's teacher during the 2018-2019 school year and collaborate with the teachers for a successful school year.

Our PTA is a big part of the success at Sycamore and we also want to encourage you to support their Krispy Kreme fundraiser. Information has been sent home with students. Please take a moment to read the information and consider offering your support to our wonderful PTA. We have also included information in this week's newsletter. The fundraiser ends on September 10, 2018.

Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget that Monday, September 3 is a school holiday. We look forward to seeing all of the kiddos back on Tuesday, September 4.

Congratulations to Mr. Gibby and all of the students who supported a successful campaign. Their work will impact many lives!! It's exciting to see the students learn at such an early age what a positive difference they can make. Check out how well Mr. Gibby represented Sycamore Elementary on camera! Congratulations!

Friendly Reminders

  • All visitors will be asked at the door who they are and their reason for entering the building by our front desk clerk. Always have your ID ready to show every time. Vanessa Camacho-Chapparo is our new front desk clerk and is happy to join our team. Please be patient with our new district requirement that ensures a stronger and safe environment for our school community.
  • We will begin our morning announcements at 8:45 AM daily and ask that all car riders are in their seats ready to begin their day prior to 8:45 AM.
  • We are going to use Mypaymentsplus for all of our monetary transactions besides small fundraisers throughout the year. Please make sure that you sign up for this with the information below.
  • We are infusing social emotional learning with our PBIS discipline program. Every classroom will have morning meeting daily where they will greet one another, share something based on a focused topic, engage in an activity and end with a morning message. This 10 minute activity every day ties to our AKS, but also helps to start the day off positively. Ask your child about the amazing experience.
