PK 4.3 - Weekly Newsletter
Dear parents,
We kicked off our week talking about WHEELS! Wheels are everywhere, and many children love every wheeled object: tricycles, bicycles, cars, trucks, wagons, trains, skates, and scooters. Wheeled toys give children mobility, ignite their imaginations, and enable them to get places more quickly. Vehicles driven by adults are fascinating for their speed and size. Children ride in cars, buses, trains and airplanes.
Our interest areas were enhanced to help them during our investigation. Now our dramatic play area is a RACETRACK for them to ride a tricycle that we have, our toys and games table has a street on them and we have different vehicles to play in there and we incorporated a wonderwall and an inventor's box in our discovery area- since the invention of the wheel had a huge impact when it happened, now they have the opportunity to "invent" or create whatever they can imagine using recyclable materials. If you recycle at home, feel free to send us any extra recyclables to add to our box and keep creating!
This study will build on children's experiences with wheels and expand their knowledge about wheels. They will observe, gather data, and explore their community. A study of wheels also offers a meaningful way for children to use skills in mathematics, literacy, the arts, and technology as they learn important concepts related to physical science and social studies.
Objectives of the week:
- Shows persistence in approaching tasks
- Applies knowledge or experience to a new concept
- Classifies objects
- Compares/Measures
- Arranges objects in a series
