Nurse's Nook
Fall has arrived. It’s the perfect time to check with your doctor about getting flu shots. If your child is ill, make sure he/she stays home at least one day without symptoms (fever, vomiting, and diarrhea), then send them back to school. Make sure we have a change of clothing for all age students!
Please view the October calendar for information on upcoming events at Woodholme! Bullying Prevention Week and Red Ribbon Week details are located on the calendar and explained above! Family Learning Night is Tuesday, November 1st!
A Note From the Principal
Dear Woodholme School Community,
Now that summer has faded away and fall has taken over, we’d like to remind parents and guardians to make sure each student at school has a season-appropriate change of clothes at school in lockers or cubbies in case of emergency, illness or spills. This will save parents a trip to bring fresh clothes if the clothes worn to school are soiled in any way. Please don’t forget to mark all jackets, sweaters and coats (really all items) with your child’s first and last name so that any lost items can be returned instead of being sent to the lost and found bin.
Reminders to parents:
1. The car pool line is very long, so parents who choose (we are an all-bus school so every child can right the school bus) to drive their children to and from school will need to be patient when the car line is long. We have asked families NOT to park in front of the school sign or on the road because doing so hinders the progress of the school buses as well as puts the children in an unsafe position trying to cross areas where buses and cars travel. We ask all drivers to please follow the line of cars around the lot to the front doors for a safer drop off/pick up of the children, and to not park or drop off by the road, even if an adult accompanies them to the front door.
2. All car pool and after school daycare van students must be picked up by 4:10 PM. For morning car arrival: when the late bell rings at 9:30 AM, please be aware that staff members do NOT stay outside when the late bell rings to assist late arriving students because they have to go inside to report to their classroom duties.
In order to keep you informed about your child’s learning, we are excited to offer the opportunity for parents, families and community members to attend Woodholme's Family Learning Night on Tuesday, November 1st from 6-8 PM. This opportunity is different from the Back to School Night evening where teachers presented information about general classroom and grade level procedures and expectations. This year’s family learning evening is being designed for our parents and families to see how students learn at school and how families can support that learning at home. This year we would like to include student involvement to demonstrate learning and programs in the classrooms, so please join us from 6-8 PM on November 1st so we can work together for student success! More information about this evening will be given later this month.
Happy autumn,
Principal Young
