Weekly Happenings at Southeastern Elementary
Principal's Postings
Welcome to the May 20th edition of Southeastern Scene.
Dear Families:
Mrs. Monkul and I would like to take a moment to extend our sincere appreciation to all of our Southeastern families. We had over 850 students walk out our doors this afternoon as joyful and confident readers, writers, mathematicians and problem solvers. This can only be accomplished when the whole learning community works together, and you came alongside us and supported the learning and growing all through the year. We are incredibly proud of the growth that our students have made both academically and socially. Our students have learned how to be strong citizens as they built their own community of learners. It is our hope that the lessons they have learned in building friendships, taking responsibility and serving others continue to live in their hearts no matter what the next adventure holds for them in the next school year.
It is our hope for our families that you spend your summer making beautiful memories. Take time to go on nature walks, to read books together, to play outside, to serve others, to laugh and to just pause.
Yours in education,
Mrs. Chastain & Mrs. Monkul

SEL
Social emotional learning doesn’t stop because it is summertime. In fact, it’s easy to argue that the summer is a great time to strengthen many of these skills, when there is less pressure for academic work. Social emotional learning encompasses a large subset of skills and competencies including self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationships, and decision-making. With so many skills to work on, there are many opportunities to work on them any time of the year, even in the summer. Attached below you will find an SEL calendar for June and July. Challenge your Explorer to complete as many challenges as they can this summer.

Immunization Requirements
Now is the time to think about getting your student prepared for next school year. The state of Indiana requires a student to be compliant with their immunizations to attend school. It can be difficult to get your student into your doctor's office before the start of school, so HSE Schools and the Fishers Health Department would like to help. HSE will be providing Onsite Vaccine clinics throughout the district this summer and special hours at the FHD Vaccine Clinic to provide the State-required immunizations to your student(s). Please watch for information regarding the dates and how to register via social media, Parent Square and the HSE website.

Student Placement survey
As Spring approaches, we know that many of our families are thinking about next school year. With this comes an urge to make special requests for specific teachers. Southeastern cannot honor teacher requests by name due to the unique make up of classrooms and potential change of teacher placements. We strive to select the best learning environment for your child to thrive. We value your input and offer this optional form for you to share your thoughts. Due to the high number of emails received, our administration team will not be responding to e-mails with these special requests but encourage you to take the time to complete this form for your child. Thank you for partnering with us at Southeastern Elementary!
