School-Wide Grace & Courtesy Focus

The language for identifying/naming ACCEPTANCE in "The Self-Awakened Child" series by Jonathan Wolff:

  • When I feel peaceful about things I cannot change and I try to live happily with them, I am acting with Acceptance.

We are very happy to announce that our BOGO Book Fair is scheduled for April 29th-May 5th. The book fair will be open to students during regular school hours. On May 5th, the book fair will be open until 5:30pm.

You can find out more information about adding money to your student's eWallet account on the Ellis Media Center website.

This book fair happens to coincide with PTA Teacher Appreciation Week! Books for the classroom make a great teacher gift.

Teacher Appreciation Week

From the Ellis PTA:

This is a great time to acknowledge those at Ellis who make a difference for our students all year round. Individual notes, gift cards and supplies for the classroom/school are always especially appreciated.

Also, students who arrive early (7:50-8:15 a.m.) on Tuesday, May 3rd, and Wednesday, May 4th, can stop by the Multipurpose Room to create a card to give to a special teacher or staff member.

PTA will host several activities throughout the week to show our love for the Ellis community.

Spring Concert

The Spring Band/Chorus Concert (Upper Elementary/Erdkinder) will be Thursday, May 5th, at 5:30pm.

You are invited to arrive early to visit the BOGO Book Fair in the media center (which will close at 5:30pm for the performance!) or to take a self-guided tour of the front garden.

Books Due May 6th

All books checked out to students need to be returned to the media center by Friday, May 6th.

If your student has lost/damaged their media center book(s), you may either purchase a replacement copy (hardcover only, please!) or you may pay to have it replaced.

If you have any questions or concerns, email Ms. Lisa (lisa.odonnell@sccpss.com).

Counselors' Corner

We're looking forward to celebrating our military families on Wednesday, May 11th. If you or someone you know is military and did not yet receive an invitation to this event, please email rebecca.burkhart@sccpss.com. Thank you for your service!

If your child or someone you know needs a referral for peer mediation, or needs any resources, please reach out to our school counselors, Mr. Wes and Ms. Rebecca. Resources are available on the School Counseling Website including a list of mental health professionals and relaxation activities.

Yearbooks have arrived!

We have a limited quantity of extra yearbooks for sale if you did not pre-order. They will be available on a first come, first served basis.

If you would like to purchase a yearbook, you can send $20 cash or check (made payable to Ellis Montessori Academy) to school with your student OR you may email Ms. Lisa for the link to pay with a debit/credit card through School Cash Online (processing fee included).

Did you know that Charles Ellis Montessori Academy participates in a Farm to School grant?

Representatives from Savannah Victory Gardens as well as the SCCPSS Nutrition Department work with our students on a monthly basis. Students participate in program activities such as: gardening, farm visits, nutrition, local produce samples, and more. School garden activities encourage healthy eating, get children to try new foods, teach the fundamentals of good nutrition, connect children to the concept of growing seasons, promote healthy outdoor physical activity, and offer students the chance to participate in environmentally meaningful activities.

We need your help. Please complete the short care-giver survey to share your views on the importance of school nutrition and school gardening program. Thank you!

Important- Please Take Note!

If you haven't done so already, please create an account on School Cash Online and add your student(s) to your account.

There is a setting under the "My Account" tab where you can select to receive an email notification every time there is an item available to purchase (i.e. yearbook, field day t-shirt, etc.) (see attached picture) so that you don't miss out.
