Winter Lights in Merton
Giving it all we've got!
Mr. Boucher and the children giving it their best!
Thanks to Mr. Frei for this pic of Mr. Boucher "directing" the children to give the song their best effort. As I said at the concert, this vocal music teacher does some terrific work with our children and the results are remarkable. I hope you can see the faces of the children too.
Quite a wonderful sight
Here you go everyone-a sure sign of the big hearts in our school! These are the wrapped gifts that resulted from the kids taking the tree tags home. Many of our families purchased gifts that were on the tags and here is the photo (Thanks Mrs. Wallgren). WOW! Mrs. Darlene Haffernan will distribute these to our most needy families. Many many thanks!
Primary School Staff Appreciation from our terrific PTO
Hello!
We have a few more available slots for the Staff Appreciation Holiday Brunch on Tuesday, December 20th. Please see the link if you are able to contribute. If you would like to donate K-Cups, you may send those in anytime.
Thank you for supporting our amazing Merton staff!

How a typical 4th grade class begins their day
This is a shot of the computer screen which will then be displayed on the smartboard for the students to see. We call this Bell Work-as the children enter the room they check the screen for their work prior to annoucements (or what used to be first bell). We do get busy right away.
Grade two children and Dreambox
Below you will find examples of studetns digging into their Dreambox math work. This is a personalized learning math program where children use their math strategies and skills to learn more about how math works. They can use this program at home too.
Making those fingers work for me.
What math strategies will I use for this?
I am thinking so hard to make my brain stronger.
I helped a friend and earned a Mustang!
Our school staff recognizes children who give that little bit extra to make our school work smoothly (PBIS-Positive Behavior-Interventions with Support). This student helped a classmate because she knows the Merton Way. The children are so happy and proud when they receive a mustang.
Indoor Recess-three days in a row
Here are our terrific first grade children getting ready to be dismissed from some arts and crafts and coding during an indoor recess. The children have really done a very good job while they spend their recesses inside this week. Thanks to our teachers for their patience and understanding when the students can't burn some energy outdoors.
Christmas Tree Tags Bring in Great Gifts
These three 4th graders were helping Mrs. Hafferman with putting these donated gifts under the tree in our main hallway. Thanks to all of the thoughtful families for these donations. You're the best!
Culver's Next Week!
See you at Culver's next Wednesday. In Hartland, it is the place to be to see friends and maybe a staff member too. Thanks for joining in maing Merton Nights the best!
Mike Budisch
Thanks to those who braved the cold and wind to join us for the Literacy Night! I sure enjoyed reading the story-Polar Express-to the families. A real treat for me.
