THE ABSOLUTELY TRUE DIARY OF A PART-TIME INDIAN by Sherman Alexie and How It Relates to Me
By Oluwagbemiga
I so much liked the book, and I think everyone should read it. I, as a Nigerian coming to Minnesota, can really connect to the book. I understand what it is like moving from a place you are know to a place where you don’t know anybody, where you have no friends. I understood what he said when he said it is like he is slowly vanishing. For me, coming to Minnesota changed a lot of things in my life - like I don’t get to see my best friend who still lives in Nigeria. I love to talk a lot, but coming here I stopped talking that much. I feel like I'm not part of the school - like having to sit alone during lunch and not having any friends, but now having joined North View News, I get to express who I thoroughly am. I connect with Arnold from the book. His way of expressing himself was through the basketball team. My way of expressing myself is through North View News.
