Celebrating Valentine’s Day safely this year

Because of the need to maintain COVID-19 health and safety protocols, including not exchanging food items and practicing proper social distancing, we ask that you please do not send any food items, balloons, stuffed animals, etc to school with your students on the week prior to February 14th. Please note that as a universal rule, we do not allow the exchange of food or toys to be brought from home.

The only items that will be allowed are traditional paper Valentine cards which must be given to the teacher so that they may be quarantined before distribution. The celebration of Valentine’s Day varies greatly in a K-6 school so please see your individual teachers for more instructions.

PPS Covid-19 Dashboard

To streamline COVID communication and provide the most accurate information possible, our focus going forward will be on updating and maintaining our PPS Covid-19 Dashboard. The updated dashboard will take the place of community notification letters for individual cases. Our Covid-19 Dashboard will be updated each day and is the best source of current information as we continue to review each reported case in our community.

We evaluate COVID data daily and collaborate with our state and local health agencies as needed. Our objective is to keep students in school while minimizing the impact of COVID-19 on our students, staff, and community.

Child Search

We will soon begin kindergarten registration for the 2021-2022 school year. We rely upon your assistance in gathering the list of children who will be entering our school for the first time.

To be eligible for Kindergarten, a child must be five years of age by September 1, 2021. If you have a child who will be coming to Kindergarten next fall, we ask that you complete and return this form as soon as possible.

If you know a neighbor with a child who will be registering for Kindergarten next fall, please share this form or ask your neighbor to contact their elementary school.

We will use this contact information to send additional information about the Kindergarten Registration process.

Reminders!

Being prepared for cold weather

Please remember to speak to your child about being properly dressed (i.e. layers, no shorts) for the cold weather and for classrooms where windows are staying open later in the season than normal in order to maximize the exchange of air. Thank you for your help!

Pick-up and Drop Off Reminders

In order to facilitate the efficient movement of traffic in front of the school, parents are reminded that if they need to get out of their cars to assist their children or anticipate a prolonged wait, please use the parking spaces in front of the school. If you are in your car and lining up in front of school, please do not exit your vehicle as this stalls traffic and our busses are unable to reach the back of the building efficiently. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Attendance

If your child/children will be late or absent from school, you must report their absence. This includes remote learning students. The attendance line can be called 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please leave your name, child’s name, teacher, and the reason for their tardiness or absence. School hours are Tuesday-Friday, with remote learning on Monday. Students not logged into their virtual classroom or present at their physical classroom by 8:15 AM will be marked tardy unless other arrangements have been made with the in-person/remote teacher. The attendance line is: 1-781-563-2050

Health & Social Emotional Wellness

Health News

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Massachusetts General Law 105CMR200.200 requires that all students entering kindergarten and 4th grade provide the School Nurse with a current physical examination. (*It is best practice to send a copy of your child's annual physical exam and immunizations to the school nurse every year). If your child has not had a physical examination since September 1, 2019, please schedule an appointment and send in a copy of the report upon completion. Please do not hesitate to contact me so we can work together to obtain the proper documents for your child.

Thank you,

Catherine Haley RN
