Galvan Explorer Experience
Week of October 14, 2019
A Message from your Principal, Diana S. Ybarra
The Parent/Student Handbook is available electronically on the district website: www.ccisd.us The handbook is a great resource to answer questions you might have from volunteering to student immunizations. The following information shared is on page 127 in the handbook regarding campus school safety.
Safe School Environment
CCISD campuses will be safe, secure, and violence-free places where all students can learn and achieve to their fullest potential.
Three basic beliefs are:
1. All students and adults will follow the discipline rules;
2. All students and adults will assume responsibility for making campuses safe, secure,
and drug-free environments;and
3. All students and adults will show respect for self and others. This applies to conduct in
the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, gym and school grounds, and at school-sponsored
events.
This educational initiative is built on the premise that school safety is everyone’s business-
students, parents, teachers, campus and central office staff, the Board of Trustees, and the
community.
Attendance Matters Daily
Every week Explorers will earn a NUT Pass on Fridays for perfect attendance Monday through Thursday. We would like to acknowledge our Explorers hard work to be in school everyday. The daily attendance goal for Galvan ES is 96%.
If your child is absent, please make sure to have a written note stating the reason and have student turn the excuse into the office or his/her teacher. We encourage our Explorers to strive for excellence in their punctual attendance. We had 2 out of 4 days above 96% percent. Let's make sure students are coming to school everyday because every student matters everyday!!!
Daily Attendance Rates from Oct. 4th- 9th:
Fri. Oct. 4- 94.6%
Mon. Oct. 7- 95.5%
Tues. Oct. 8- 96.6%
Wed. Oct. 9- 97.8%
Book Character Parade
On October 31, 2019 students will participate in our Galvan Book Character Parade dressed as their favorite book character. We look forward to celebrating Fall Reading with our PK to 5th Grade Students. Please be mindful to keep costumes appropriate for school.
Thank You Galvan Family
The PTA Fundraiser has come to an end and we appreciate every student's participation. All monies were due Monday, Oct. 7, 2019. PTA will keep us posted on
PTA Drive
Our PTA goal is to increase our membership every year. Students may now be part of the PTA membership. The class in each grade level with the most PTA Memberships receives an incentive. We encouraged everyone to join because it benefits all our students. Every student voice counts when parents and students sign up for PTA.
Thank you again for all the support and cooperation.
Your Proud Principal,
Diana S. Ybarra
