As the holiday season is upon us we look forward to parties, fun days to dress up, and time with our families. I will use this time during break to reflect on our year so far and where we will be heading in the future. I am honored to be the Superintendent of Clinton-Massie Local Schools. I am thankful for the support of the board of education and the community. I am excited when I see students and staff striving to reach their full potential.

D.A.R.E Graduation 2017!

Fifth-grade students at Clinton-Massie Elementary School publicly pledged to stay drug-free at the recent D.A.R.E. program graduation.

According to School Resource Officer Deputy Danny Wood, portions of the D.A.R.E. program are taught in first, third, fifth, seventh, and ninth grades, with the fifth-grade graduation being the culmination of the elementary program at Clinton-Massie.

This year, 137 fifth graders completed the program.

The students also participated in an essay contest about the importance of what they learned through D.A.R.E. First-place winners Brendan Musser and Hailey Swiger each received a bicycle for their winning essays.

Meet Robyn Donisi, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction

Mrs. Donisi officially joined last year as a full-time Clinton-Massie employee. Prior to that, Mrs. Donisi was employed through the Southern Ohio Educational Service Center. She is essential to the success we have had in the past and the growth we have seen recently. To say Mrs. Donisi wears many hats would be an understatement! Her many duties include (but not limited to):

1) CCIP (Federal Grants and title funding)

2) Pre-School Coordinator

3) District Test Coordinator (MAPS, KRA, OST, ACT, etc.)

4) OTES (Both evaluating teachers and district set-up)

5) Curriculum Coordination and Adoption (Pre-K-12)

6) DLT (District Leadership Team) Facilitator

7) Attends gifted meetings, Title I meetings, preschool meetings at the state and local levels to ensure compliance.

8) Manages Curriculum and Professional Development Budget

9) Homeless Liaison (required by law)

10) She assists the superintendent with Equity Planning

11) ..and many, many more

Thank you to Mrs. Donisi for her flexibility and willingness to do whatever is needed for our students. We are lucky to have her as a Falcon Family member!

A little academic food for thought...

I recently read an article that I found extremely interesting and thought-provoking. The article was called "No More Zeros" by Deborah Yaffe. The article can be found here. I would love to know what the community thinks about this very interesting topic of eliminating zeros from K-12 grading policies. By no means am I suggesting that this is a policy we are implementing in the near future. I am using this article to spark discussion in my administration team meetings.
