G-D Peer Leaders team up with Seven Hill Foundation

Big picture
The Groton-Dunstable Peer Leaders are sponsoring a project called, "Warmer Hands, Warmer Hearts", a service project to benefit the residents of the Seven Hills Foundation located in Groton. This year there is a fireplace with mitten shaped gift tags hanging on it available for students and staff to choose a tag to buy a specific gift for a resident. All gifts are to be returned wrapped or in a gift bag with the tag attached to it. Gifts should be brought in no later than Monday December 17th and can be dropped off in room 124. With the great support of our school community, we were able to provide many wonderful gifts for the children at Seven Hills last year and hope to do the same this year.

G-D Boosters offer volunteer opportunities

G-D Volunteers Club Fighting World Hunger

from Mrs. Durst, club advisor...

The GD Volunteers will be participating in the Area High school Rise Against Hunger food packing event. Lawrence Academy (organizer) The Groton School and GD high school will be raising money to package between 10,000 – 18,000 meals in about 2-2.5 hours. The meals consist of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and a flavoring mix including 24 essential vitamins and minerals. The meals are placed in small sealed packages. These meals are then ready to be shipped to crisis areas in the United States and internationally.

We are holding a fundraising event at Blaze Pizza in the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua. If you go to Blaze Pizza on Friday December 13 from 11;00am to 2:00pm, and present the attached flyer, Blaze Pizza will donate 20% of the proceeds from your meal to GD's Rise Against Hunger Fundraiser.

2nd Annual GKTW Service Trip a Big Success!

Twenty-one students and staff recently returned from spending four days working at Give Kids the World Village located in Kissimmee, Florida. Their service helped make it possible for hundreds of families who have a child suffering from a potential life threatening condition to enjoy a week's vacation and enjoy their time at the GKTW resort and the surrounding Orlando attractions. Our GD group served food, bussed tables, hosted a Candy Land themed party and spent many more selfless hours doing whatever they could to make these vacations special. I am so proud of this group and look forward to many more years of GD students and staff participating in this experience.

"Ever since last year when I first heard about Give Kids The World Village I knew it was a trip I wanted to go on and I was really excited when I found out it was a trip the school was continuing. This trip was truly inspirational and eye-opening and something I’ll remember forever. I hope to come back soon and volunteer with my family. I recommend this trip to anyone who wants to be part of something bigger than themselves."
