October is Cyber-Safety Awareness Month!
Follow Friday
First, I want to know who YOU follow! I know a lot of you are on Twitter, and are using it in lots of different ways. I want to know who you follow and what is so great about them. Add suggestions to this form (this is open to anyone in the world, and I would love for some of my readers who are not FISD to participate as well!) And if you want to see the list that is created, you can check it out here!
And if you want a follow for this week- high school folks- I am going to recommend you follow some folks like @FAFSA or even some admissions departments for your favorite schools. Especially if you have a Twitter that your students follow, they may be looking to the people you follow to find good resources. Plus you might see info that you can share with your kiddos about admissions and such!
Tip of the Week- Autosave Your Grades!
Scroll down until you see the section marked Gradebook, and select Auto save scores upon entry.
CTE Center Teachers- Thursday Lunch and Learn Next Week!
Tool of the Week- Wizer.me
I MADE A SAMPLE YOU CAN TRY OUT HERE THAT SHOWS OFF FUN FEATURES!
Great things about Wizer-
- Use worksheets you already have! Just upload them as PDF and create answer blanks!
- Find worksheets shared by other people
- Fill in the blank options are great for LOTE cloze exercises!
- upload an image and have students label it
- create matching questions
- give students a table and have them complete it
- sorting questions (Biology, this made me think of you!)
- Give open ended questions. On open ended questions, students can write an answer out AND record audio for an answer! They can even include a link or an image in their response.
- Give multiple choice answers, with the possibility of using images in the question and/or answer choices
- You can post assignments from Wizer directly to your Google Classroom. It will not pull grades into Classroom, but it does make it easier to direct students to where they need to be. You can also just use a link like mine above OR you can embed this (say, in your Learning Hub class!)
- Give immediate feedback or delay it until you release it. Your choice!
- Share with other teachers!
- Anything that it CAN grade for you it WILL grade for you.
Disclaimer- in talking to Blythe Schaumberg today who is using Wizer regularly, she indicated that Wizer has been pretty slow as far as results showing up for the teacher. they come in but sometimes it is the next day when they are all taking the same worksheet. So just be prepared for that possibility!
