What are migrant workers?
Migrant workers include any people working outside their home or country. The term can also be used to describe someone who migrates within a country, possibly their own, in order to pursue work such as seasonal work.
How migrant workers came to be
The Great Depression took a toll on California's economy during the 1930s, however, Mexicans and Mexican Americans became targets for discrimination and removal.
What was life like?
Their education rates are lower, their health is undefined by hard outdoor labor and exposure to pesticides, low income levels and had lower life expectancy.
Where did they come from and where did they go?
The workers were pushed out of Mexico because of the Mexican Civil War and the Mexican Revolution and they fled to California.
