Bounce and Dance-A-Thon!
The ONLY fundraiser we will have this year is our Bounce and Dance-A-Thon. And YOU can help make it a successful fundraiser for our school and TONS of fun for our children!
The more money we are able to have donated to our school, the more inflatable bounce houses we will be able to purchase for our students to enjoy during this day of fun.
For every $5,000 raised, the BAE PTO adds an inflatable slide or obstacle course.
If we reach $30,000, we will have SIX inflatable activities AND a Kona Ice Truck!
WE NEED EVERYONE TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
*The money our PTO raises goes to support special projects and activities for our school. See examples below!
What YOU Can Do:

If your child has a fever, is vomiting or has diarrhea they must stay home until they no longer have the symptom for 24 hours without the use of medication to control the symptoms.Check our school illness guidelines at Illness Guidelines. The school district health handbook has more information and found on the district website at School Health Services .
Lice 101 review: Lice cannot jump or fly. They are transmitted by direct head to head contact with another person with lice or sharing items placed in the hair. Children should be instructed against sharing hats, clothing or hair items with others. Children should use their own pillows and sleeping bags when spending the night with a friend. Household pets do not transmit lice. Here is a link from the American Academy of Pediatrics regarding best practices with lice management Head Lice: What Parents Need to Know - HealthyChildren.org Consult your school nurse and the Sycamore Student Health Handbook for more great information about lice.

Prepare you child for a successful lunch line!
YOU can help your child be prepared for an efficient experience by practicing how to input their 6 digit identification number into the system.
Whether a child is paying for their lunch each day, or just getting a snack, they MUST input this number to be able to proceed.
Step 1 ~ locate and write down your child's student identification number. You can find this through final forms (same place you go to get your child's teacher assignment!)
Step 2 ~ Help your child to memorize these numbers. Make it into a game and practice every day!
Step 3 ~ Help your child practice putting their number into the sample keypad shown below, then hit the green "enter" button. This is exactly how they will do this when they go through the line.
It is a good practice to randomly check in with your child to see if they remember their number. It is used throughout the day, so knowing this number all year is very helpful. And the good news is that this number will follow your child all the way through high school....so they don't have to learn a new number each year!
Thank you for helping your child have a great experience at school!
Can you Help?
If you are able to send these in with your child, please mark them "For Mrs. Smucker"
Thank you!

Parent Access to Canvas LMS
At the start of next school year (2023-24), Sycamore Schools will be transitioning to a new Learning Management System called Canvas. Canvas is a widely used Learning Management System in K-12 schools and beyond. This year, staff members will begin transitioning to this new LMS. Parents will have access to a parent account in Canvas that can be linked to their student(s). To create an account, please follow the steps below:
Generate a pairing code from your student’s Sycamore Canvas course (instructions).
Visit the parent login page and create an account in the top right corner (this will require the pairing code from step 1.
Once submitted, the parent account will be connected to the student account for current and future courses.
Please note that this school year will be a transition year, meaning the use and adoption of Canvas will be varied from teacher to teacher with full implementation expected at the start of the 23-24 school year.
