October's Rockets of the Month

Each month, our students focus on one of our many character traits. "RESPECT" was the focal point during the month of October. Each classroom teacher selected one student who best exemplified that trait and that student is named the "Rocket of the Month" for his or her class. Click Here to view October's Rocket of the Month listing.

Weekly G.R.I.P. Winners

All HRE students know about G.R.I.P. - an acronym which stands for Gratitude Respect Integrity Purpose. Students may earn "GRIP SLIPS" by demonstrating any one of these character traits. Each week, teachers draw one name from their classroom Grip Slips and that student is the Grip Slip winner for the week from that classroom. Those names are then entered into a weekly drawing per grade level; one name is drawn per grade level and those students come to the office to choose a small prize. We are pleased to announce our Grip Slip winners for the week:

Kindergarten: Finley Foster from Mrs. Fleenor's class demonstrated Purpose.

1st Grade: Zendo Gali from Mrs. Brockman's class demonstrated Gratitude and

Jelena Lapsley from Mrs. Gue's class demonstrated Respect.

2nd Grade: Trivi Bommineni from Mrs. Edwards' class demonstrated Integrity.

3rd Grade: Piper Sosnowski from Mrs. Lee's class demonstrated Purpose.

4th Grade: Naja Winston from Mrs. Washburn's class demonstrated Purpose.

Wednesday will be for those students with last names beginning with L-Z. Donuts, coffee, milk and juice will be served in the cafeteria and dads are invited to join their students in the media center to visit the book fair.

Dads: Please park in the school's back parking lot located off of Hoosier Road. Should the lot fill up, you will be directed to the front lot. All Donuts with Dads visitors should enter through the gate near our portable classrooms which are in the back of the school (Door 6).

Sorry, no walk-ins can be accepted for breakfast, but those who missed registration are welcome to visit the book fair with students.

Please note that the school buses along with daycare buses, car riders and YMCA before care cars will all be dropping children off in the front parking lot. Mr. Hurst and other staff members will be in the front directing traffic. Please CLICK HERE to see the front lot traffic plan. It will be a little busier than normal so we appreciate your understanding and patience. Thank you in advance for driving carefully and paying attention to the alternate traffic patterns.

Thank You HRE Rockets!

This year HRE is pairing up with Glowing Grins Pediatric Dentistry in Westfield. They have agreed to ship all of our candy to the Operation Gratitude center. Plus, they are donating 1 nonperishable food item for every pound of candy donated to a meal program in Westfield Washington School District that provides food for kids who need it over breaks. So our students are not only helping the deployed troops, they are also helping to provide food items for kids over vacations. HRE would like to thank all of our students and families for donating your unwanted halloween candy. HRE has collected 704 pounds of candy to donate to Operation Gratitude! Way to go ROCKETS!
