A Message from Principal Fraser
Aloha 'Aikahi Ohana,
Our first ever Arts for 'Aikahi Festival and Concert is in the books! It was a tremendous event that was enjoyed by all in attendance. As I reflect on Friday night, the highlight for me was to see how much fun our students had! Whether it was Knockerball, face painting, blacksmithing, painting with Patrick Ching, pounding Kapa with Page Change, eating good food or dancing as The Green performed, 'Aikahi students were smiling and having a blast with their friends. Hopefully this event will leave a lasting memory for them!
Another takeaway for me was to see our school community come together to make this event a success. Parents were working hand in hand with teachers to run booths. Our custodial staff was working with military volunteers to clean throughout the event. The Honolulu Police Department SWAT team was in full force to ensure safety. Our PTA was collecting money and organizing the ticket and script scales. We had over 75 people (parents, staff, community members) stay afterwards to about 9:30pm to help clean up. I came back on Saturday to check campus and there was barely any trash to be found. The tables, chairs and tents were all put away. It was truly amazing! This sort of teamwork is what makes our school special; its the essence of the A TEAM!
Through PTA we will report the financial results and keep you in the loop as we plan for next school year. Thank you again for your support and we look forward to planning the 2016 Arts for 'Aikahi Festival and Concert in the spring.
