Congratulations to our Cross Country team!

Congratulations to our cross country team. The JAE boys placed first and the girls placed 2nd in the Sumner County meet this weekend. Congratulations to Chloe Kinslow, Harper Vroma, Avery McGhan, Nolan Ramey, Lucas Zeman and Mason Judkins for placing in the top 10. We are proud of all of our runners!

We Will Miss You, Mr. John!

Mr. John Smith has decided to retire his crossing guard vest. He has been with us at Jack Anderson for seven years, and we all LOVE him. We will miss his smile, his wave, and his kindness.

The Hendersonville Police Department will direct traffic for us until they find a replacement for him.

Lunch Visits

Students may have one lunch visitor per week. We use the first two weeks of school to teach routines and procedures. We look forward to seeing you after the first two weeks.

Remember, according to regulations, you may not bring outside food or drinks from restaurants to students for lunch.

Please see our student handbook for more information.

Jack Anderson Elementary Care Closet

Meet the new JAE Care Closet! This project of love was organized by an incredible JAE parent. We have a discreet, confidential and (currently) fully stocked care closet right in our school! This closet is stocked with various clothing items (shirts, pants, underwear, socks, shoes), hygiene products (toothbrushes, soaps, deodorant, hair accessories), snacks and pre-packaged meals. Here at JAE… our main goal is to provide a safe, loving and encouraging school environment so that our children can thrive- academically, socially, emotionally and physically. Please do not hesitate to reach out as any need arises! The care closet is here for that very reason. Please email carrie_chambers@ymail.com if you are in need of any assistance.

Carrie is in the process of starting Care Closets at other area elementary schools!

LIDS NEEDED FOR STEM/ART

For the next few weeks we will be collecting LIDS in all different colors and sizes. Boxes will be set up in the front lobby to collect them. This will be for a very special mosaic that students will be creating!

School Meals

SCHOOL MEALS: THE USDA HAS NOT EXTENDED ITS FREE MEAL PROGRAM FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR.

Sumner County Schools will return to charging regularly priced meals for 2022-23 school year. It is highly encouraged for those who normally qualify for free or reduced meals to fill out an online application here:

https://family.titank12.com/?identifier=UTHTBK

Charges are as follows:

  • Breakfast for all grades $2.00

  • Elementary Lunch $3.00

  • Middle/High Lunch $3.50

UPDATE: Moving forward, all transactions must occur through TITAN (see the link above). All payments into MyPaymentsPlus will be automatically transferred into your student’s TITAN Family Portal account within 48 hours, including outstanding balances. However, if you login to MyPaymentsPlus, it may appear that there is still money available. This is why it's important to login on TITAN moving forward.

Money that was deposited in your child’s account for extras last year should transfer after you register in the TITAN program. Please email Jennifer Osborne in the cafeteria with questions at Jennifer.osborne@sumnerschools.org.

Wilson Bank & Trust

Jack Anderson is excited to have another great opportunity this year! In-School Banking is a hands-on in school program offered to students by Wilson Bank & Trust. The program teaches students the principles of saving money and the basics of banking transactions. A note went home on parent night regarding dates that Wilson Bank & Trust will be on campus. As a reminder, parents must sign up for this program at any of the local offices to open a Youth Saver Account. A parent must bring their state ID or Drivers License, and the child's birth Certificate and Social Security Card. On the following Tuesdays, our representative will be at JAE so that students can deposit in to their accounts.

-September 27

-October 18

-November 1

-November 15

-December 6

*We will share the 2023 dates in January.

At Jack Anderson, we are so excited to add SPACE to our building as a resource to all students. The purpose of SPACE is to help students have success in the following areas:

-Social

-Physical

-Academic

-Cognitive

-Emotional

We want to ensure that students have the tools to be successful, to persevere through challenges, and to communicate their needs effectively. While we strive for academic excellence, we are aware that meeting the needs of K-5 students in the area of social and emotional learning, is just as important. If and when a student feels that he or she may need a break, they can ask to go to SPACE. SPACE is an actual room inside JAE where a classified staff member, Coach Amy will spend her day. She is extremely knowledgeable in helping students "reset" and breathe. SPACE is not a place where students go as a consequence, nor is it a place where students go if they are in an escalated state. Students will always return back to class to learn after they spend time in SPACE, and will use the skills they learn at Jack Anderson, and in the future.

New Kids at JAE!

We have two new kids on campus- kinder goat kids! Mrs. Sentell and Ms. Vastag are our newest farmers. They were SOOOOO excited to welcome Vincent Van Goat and Sheldon to the herd.

Kinder goats are a cross between Nubian and pygmy. These goats combine the slender legs of pygmy goats with the slightly stocky build of Nubians. They have long ears that stick out at the sides and are usually the same color as their fur.

They also combine the best personality traits of both breeds. They have the playful attitude of pygmy goats and the sociability of Nubians. They are intelligent, curious, and easy to train. These goats have sweet faces and easygoing personalities to match.

Thank you to the "Greatest Of All Time" dads, Clay and Craig Sanders, for donating these cute kids to our school.

Thank you also to Nathan Riley, for moving our fence!

Thank you also to Sarah Beth Loucks for the stumps! Sheldon loves them!

Welcome to the Flock!

We'd like to welcome two newcomers to our flock, Bertie and Bea. They are turkens, and they have adjusted very well to JAE! Students are collecting 8-10 eggs each day from the hens. Students are gathering delicious scraps from lunch each day to feed them.

Riding the Bus Home Today?

If your child is riding the bus (and normally goes home a different way) you must complete a bus pass. The bus pass must include the following:

  • Student Name
  • Grade Level
  • Teacher Name
  • Address of where they are riding home.

This process is to ensure that your student arrives home on the correct bus route.

Please remember that per the Student Handbook, and SCS requirements, you must show your ID when picking up your student early. Many of you know our front office staff, but there may be a day that there is a sub in the office, or one of our part time front office members does not know you. Please be prepared to show your ID to pick up your student for an early dismissal.
