Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Also known as African American History Month, the event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month.

PISA’s Annual High School Conference
PISA’s Annual High School Conference that will be hosted at SDSU’s Conrad Prebys Student Union on Sunday February 27, 2022 between 8am-4pm.
This special event serves to promote higher education as well as provide resources and services to high school students aspiring to continue their education. In order to accomplish this, we will have various academic and cultural workshops hosted by the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), Admissions, and more! Lunch will be provided for high school attendees. Following lunch, high schoolers will have the opportunity to participate in an exhibition performance where they can showcase their groups’ Polynesian dances.
As a final reiteration, the purpose of PISA’s High School Conference is to promote higher education among the underrepresented students of the Pacific Islander community by supplying them with resources they may need in order to lessen their barriers to entry and ease their transition into college.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month
Across the nation, young people and their loved ones unite to raise awareness about teen dating violence. Please join us in advocating and educating our students to stop dating abuse before it starts.

This toolkit is intended to support schools in planning and implementing an awareness and prevention initiative.
