October Family Newsletter
Go Lobos!
Message from the Principal
September 30
Hello families!
September was a joyful month at RMP Southwest! Our scholars were busy getting to know their teachers, connecting with friends, and making strides in their reading. Earlier this month we also got to hear from YOU during a family Coffee Hour, where we reflected on what is going well and shared small tweaks we can make to improve! We appreciate your partnership and know this year will only get better as we continue to work together, celebrate our wins, and have fun growing!
As we prepare for October, there are a few important dates we want to share with you!
- Count Day: On October 3rd, schools across the nation will host Count Day. This is an important day to ensure we have the resources to support your scholar next year. For every scholar who is present on this day, we will receive funding to help run programs at our school, such as field trips, paraprofessional salaries, academic and learning materials, technology, and more! Let's work together to ensure every scholar is at school this Monday to continue providing the essential resources for our scholars and community!
- Family-Teacher Conferences: Conferences are just around the corner beginning October 13 and 14! Your scholar's success is important to us, and these are important touchpoints you can have with your scholar's teachers to learn about how your scholar is progressing, and ways you can support their learning at home. By October 10, please sign up for a conference spot with your scholar's teacher.
- Fall Festival: Mark your calendars and bring a friend for our Fall Festival on October 28! We invite the whole Southwest community to celebrate fall with our Trunk or Treat event, where we will have food, games, and resources for your family. You can learn more information in our newsletter on ways to get involved. We cannot wait to see you there!
Thank you for your continued partnership and trust--we know all of our work is only possible with you.
Warmly
Bridget Tiebout

Attendance Corner
Our daily attendance goal is 96.5%. Having our students present and ready to learn every day is important for their education and growth.
We celebrate our students' attendance because their presence means academic success, and the opportunity to close educational and social-emotional gaps. Every Friday, we recognize the classrooms with the highest attendance and reward them with small prizes. We also have an attendance race every month! The homerooms with the highest monthly attendance earn special prizes or quarterly field trips to places such as Skate City, Boondocks, or the Center for Performing Arts. So far our attendance since we began has been 92.64%, and our average for September was 92.66%. We still have ways to grow! Let's continue working together this quarter so our scholars are present and learning daily!
Families as Partners
Families as Partners
Our families are the most transformative tools for change! Make sure to review the opportunities in the section below for ways we can partner together this year.
- Possip: Our next family feedback check, Possip, will be sent out in early October. Please continue to share your experiences so we can learn how to make our school stronger. We will be addressing your praises and concerns during our next Coffee Hour.
Fall Festival: we are looking for family volunteers to help us run our Fall Festival! This exciting event will include a Trunk or Treat, food, games, and many more fun activities for your family! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Ms. Hernandez at jhernandez@rockymountainprep.org.
Volunteer: We value your partnership. You are always welcome to join us at Southwest and volunteer your time and skills with our campus. Please reach out to the main office if you would like to learn more.
Garden Fun!: Mrs. Haller is leading some amazing activities in our garden as we prepare for our fall harvest! If you would like to participate in gardening activities, please contact the main office for more info.
Creating Community: Our team is working on creating more opportunities for us to come together as a community, and we always welcome your feedback. If you have ideas or resources to help infuse more joy in the community, please let us know!
Reminders
Please read below for important reminders about campus routines and practices:
- Carline dismissal-we have had reports of people cutting in the carline at dismissal. We ask you to please be kind and respectful to each other by following our dismissal procedures and waiting in line for your child to arrive. This ensures the safety of all our scholars and our community.
- Walker line dismissal-please keep in mind that we cannot send all scholars out at once, as it is difficult to ensure they leave with their respective adults. Once we take scholars' names at dismissal, please remember to wait for them against the fence where we have our RMP signage. When you leave to wait in your car it causes confusion for scholars and it slows down the process of dismissal for all walkers.
- Breakfast and lunch-thank you for helping us by ensuring scholars wear their yellow or blue lanyards during meal times. This measure has been extremely helpful for our lunch process, and it has given scholars more time to enjoy their meals! Please continue to make sure students have their lanyards every day.
