Non-verbal Redirection
If you often get tired of verbally redirecting your students' behavior, visual reminders are a great tool. In this newsletter you will find 3 visual reminders for students to improve behavior.
"STOP" sign
Mrs. Eligio and our Special Education Dept.
A student is given a set amount of verbal warnings and, if the behavior continues, a small STOP sign is placed on his/her desk. This lets the student know that parent contact will start from this point forward if the behavior continues.
Class Period Incentive
A simple (and inexpensive) technique that I have used is an empty jar and popcorn seeds. Place the jar in highly visible location. As the students are engaged, the teacher can scoop popcorn into the jar. When the jar is filled that class earns a POPCORN PARTY! You'll be surprised how quickly one class period earning the party will lead to others following behind.
Tickets
Teachers can also have their own incentives that students could earn: sitting in the teacher's chair, sitting at the teacher's desk, sitting with a friend for the class period, and more.
