Principal - Carrie Handy

School Improvement Specialist - Kelly Robinson

Our Clear Creek MISSION:

To unite school, family and community by inspiring, challenging and empowering each of us to grow as life-long learners and responsible citizens.

Andrew Frye named Principal for Clear Creek Elementary School

The Board of Education of Unified School District No. 232, at its regularly scheduled meeting on April 4, accepted the school district’s recommendation to name Andrew Frye, Ed.D., as principal of Clear Creek Elementary School in Shawnee. His appointment is effective July 1, 2016.

Dr. Frye, who currently serves as the district’s Elementary Curriculum Coordinator, will succeed Carrie Handy in the school’s leadership position. Handy was appointed last month to Human Resources for the district as Director, Elementary Personnel. She served as principal at Clear Creek for six years.

“We are confident Andrew will continue Clear Creek’s focus on academic excellence and school improvement,” said Dr. Ron Wimmer, Superintendent of Schools. “He brings a diverse background of professional experience, skilled leadership and accomplishments that will propel Clear Creek into the future.”

“I am excited to have the honor of serving Clear Creek as the building principal with such an amazing community of students, hardworking teachers, and dedicated families,” said Dr. Frye. “The staff does such a wonderful job giving every opportunity for students to thrive and flourish. I am humbled to be a part of this talented team and to do everything in my power to continue to make Clear Creek a school of excellence."

Prior to Frye’s district-level curriculum work, he served two years as the School Improvement Specialist at Clear Creek Elementary. During that time he assisted teachers with plans and strategies to improve academic performance among students. In 2011, he joined USD 232 as a 6th grade writing teacher at Monticello Trails Middle School. He spent eight years as an eighth grade English teacher and department chair at Shelburne Middle School in Staunton, VA.

Frye earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Baker University, his Master of Arts in Teaching from Mary Baldwin College and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas. He earned his building administrative endorsement from James Madison University.

In addition to his many honors and recognitions, Frye is proud to have earned Eagle Scout while he was in high school in 1995. He is married to his wife Michelle, who is also an educator, and together they have one son, Abel.

We are excited to welcome Mr. Frye back to Clear Creek!

Clear Creek Recieved the 2014-15 Governor's Achievement Award

Unified School District No. 232 is pleased to announce that Clear Creek Elementary School in Shawnee received the 2014-15 Kansas Governor’s Achievement Award. This distinction honors top performing schools and places Clear Creek among the top five percent in Kansas.

In order to be named a Governor’s Achievement School, Clear Creek is among the top five percent of schools in both Reading and Mathematics on state assessments. Only 36 elementary schools received this designation out of more than 760 elementary schools in Kansas.

“We know that without administrative support, highly qualified teachers, paraprofessionals, and other personnel, such achievement simply is not possible,” said Randy Watson, Kansas Commission of Education. “We extend our congratulations to Clear Creek Elementary on this outstanding achievement.”

USD 232 has a tradition of excellence with four other schools also receiving the Governor’s Achievement Award in past years: Horizon Elementary, Lexington Trails Middle School, De Soto High School and Mill Valley High School.

They will enjoy a snack from the cafeteria during their tour while they learn the middle school lunch room routine and rules. They will eat lunch here at CCE during their normal scheduled lunch time when they return.

April 11th: From 6-7:30 pm, parents are invited to Monticello Trails Middle School for a parent information night. Enjoy some refreshments as you get YOUR turn to ask questions and make new friends prior to being a middle school parent. See the attached flyer for more information. Please contact me or the office if your student plans to attend another middle school other than MT.
