Adding and Subtracting Intgeres
Steps for Adding and Subtracting Integers:
- Follow the negative and positive rules. Same signs = positive Diferent signs = negative
- Add or subtract depending on what the on what the negative and positive rule tells you.
- Use the sign of the biggest number for your answer.
Examples Adding Integers:
-2 + (-5)= -7
-2 + (-9)= 11
8 + (-7) = 1
Examples Subtracting Integers:
-7 - 8 = -15
14 - (-6) = 20
8 - (-10) = -2Multiplying and Dividing with Integers
Steps for Multiplying and Dividing with Integers:
1. Divide or multiply as usual
2. Use the negative and positive rule to know what sign to use for your answer.
Examples for Multiplying Integers:
-7 x -5= 35
-8 x -4= 32
-6 x -9= 54Examples for Dividing Integers:
-6 ÷ 2= -3
-16 ÷ -4= 4
-8 ÷ -2 = 4
