State Superintendent Visits, Commends District's Blue Ribbon School

"It is great to see an external source recognize our hard work," Superintendent Dr. Curtis Jones said.
Bibb Superintendent Dr. Jones pointed out that parent involvement at school helps mold a successful culture and climate, which in turn leads to national recognition for the hard work.
"In order for a school to be a National Blue Ribbon School, two elements that are key are culture and climate. You have to have that situation where everyone knows it's about success. The second part is having parents engaged in making the school work."
Alexander II Magnet School was one of eight public schools in Georgia to receive the national recognition for 2015.
Westside High School Principal Named 2016 Principal of the Year Finalist

She's one of six finalists in the state for the middle and high school level. The winner will go on to represent GASSP at the national level and compete for National Principal of the Year Award.
"I am excited about this honor and recognition as a finalist in this competition," Dr. Julia Daniely said. "Student achievement and faculty/staff performance have always been my litmus test to validate my leadership performance. I have high standards for myself and I believe I play an intricate role for the success of my students and faculty/STAFF. However, this honor is telling me that I am doing the RIGHT work for students."
Dr. Daniely has served as Westside High's Principal since 2012. Prior to that, she served as Assistant Principal Rutland High School and Northeast High School.
Most recently, Westside High School was awarded a $700,000 grant under her direction to enhance innovative practices for school improvement. Westside was also recognized in 2015 under Dr. Daniely's direction as a Rising Star SSTAGE Award Winner for implementing promising practices to increase student achievement.
Bus Riders for 2016-2017 Need to Pre-Register for District Transportation

All Bibb County students will be required to pre-register for transportation services for the 2016-2017 school year. The registration process is designed to improve on-time performance and accurate ridership. Pre-registration opens February 1, 2016.
Additionally, the Bibb County School District now provides a web-based app that allows stakeholders and students to use their computer or smartphone to view the current location of their assigned school bus and its current “live” route status. The app is called “My Stop” and it is provided free of charge by the District.
To download the app, users should visit the app store for their mobile device and search for “Versatrans My Stop.” After installing and opening the app, users will be directed to a login page where they will enter the student’s identification number as their username and password. The data in the app updates approximately every 5 seconds, providing users with the most updated information about their bus’s location and expected arrival time.
