- practice practice practice until you know it
- connect new info. to old info.
- have study time but mix it up to improve long term recall
- Read it out loud, write it out, have someone read it
- attend class study sessions or online tests/quizzes
Retreving/Storing Information
There are certain ways to retrieve class notes from memory such as Sensory Memory: when studying, chew flavored gum or spray perfume. Do this again at school and your brain will have an Episodic Memory of what you were studying at home! Your notes should be organized and easy to understand even if you weren't paying attention in class.
Study Hard/Take Notes
Repetition is key for class review to become long term memory. You may want to use Mnemonic Devices and Elaborate Rehearsal to make new info. easier to learn since it's connected to old info., like chunking or Serial Position. Avoid cramming the day before because the information is not learned, only in short term memory.
Improving Memory/the Brain
Take care of your body outside of school so you don't start forgetting and use confabulation for information that has decayed. Your Procedural and Semantic Memory will start to improve making the storage info. easier to recall. Go to bed early after a spaghetti dinner and eat a healthy protein filled breakfast to help kick start your brain!
