Cay it Forward
STEAM/OSOB Night Sneak Peak – TCES first Art Show – Cay it Forward
The Related Arts teachers worked with students to pull the A out of STEAM for the “Cay it Forward” Art Show. Students have been working hard to create art to sell for $1 during STEAM/OSOB night. 100% of the money will be donated to _______. Change will be limited, please bring smaller denominations.
In PE, kindergarten students used a ping pong ball to create a collaborative class painting. Students participated in a relay race as they used the ping pong ball to paint lines and shapes.
In STEAM Class, first grade students learned about abstract art and crayon resist painting. Students drew different types of lines on their papers and then colored each section with different colors. Students then added texture to their papers and painted.
In Music Class, second grade students discussed colors and how they can represent bonds between families, friends and teams. Students then created bracelets with colored beads that they chose to represent their special family, friend or team colors.
In Technology Class, third grade students used Google Sheets and learned to resize columns and rows to create squares. Students than created pictures in the squares.
In the library, fourth grade students created potholders using looms and loom bands in various colors. Students also had the opportunity to create windowpane bookmarks using decorative cardstock and sequins.
In Art Class, fifth grade students studied the artwork of American sculptor and assemblage artist Louise Nevelson. Students created their own assemblage in Nevelson’s style using recycled objects, wooden pieces, and other found objects. They painted their assemblages with acrylic paint in one color similar to Nevelson’s artwork.
‘Reminder: All art is first come first serve, anyone can purchase any item.’

In Playground Millionaire, the main character Cleo is a young entrepreneur. She loves finding new ways to earn money. Not only does she enjoy earning money, she also believes it’s important to give back. In the spirit of paying it forward, we have invited local community partners to set up information tables in order to share with our families and students ways that they can give back to the community as well. On our STEAM Literacy Night your family will have the opportunity to visit the following tables and learn more about them:
Pediatric Cancer- They will be here to share lots of information on how your family can support and help in the research for a cure.
Foster Closet- They will be here to share information on how we can support this fantastic resource for our foster kids.
We All Play Together- They will be here sharing information on this new all-inclusive playground that is coming to Tega Cay. They are currently trying to raise money for wheel chair friendly picnic tables and will be accepting donations this night, if you’d like to donate.
In our book, you will learn about how Cleo was trying to help other students with their teeth. So, we have also invited 2 of our business partners, Jackson Orthodontics and Southlake Family Dentistry, to share some information about healthy teeth as well.
