WARRIOR NEWS
HYBRID LEARNING EDITION
HYBRID LEARNING START DATE: FEBRUARY 1, 2021
WELCOME BACK!
We are excited to begin the in-person Hybrid Learning portion of the 2020-2021 school year on February 1, 2021! We are so excited to have you return to EMS! Students, families, and teachers are going to work together to make this a successful experience for all. Nothing has been easy or normal so far this school year, and the Warrior Staff is committed to providing opportunities for students to engage in learning new skills and content, build relationships with the staff and other students, and bring a feeling of “normal” back to the school year. We appreciate all of the hard work our staff, students and families did during full Distance Learning.
WHAT WILL SCHOOL LOOK LIKE?
Classes: All 6 periods each day you're here!
Health and safety requirements mandate schools maintain six feet of social distancing in classrooms. While the physical size of classrooms varies, the EMS classrooms aren’t large enough to accommodate all students six feet apart. Instead, students will participate in two in-person Hybrid Learning school days and three Distance Learning school days per week. The Distance Learning days will be asynchronous and students will need to access the Google Classroom for each of their classes for assignments and important information from their teachers. Teachers have a Distance Learning Support period built into each day so that students who are Distance Learning will have access to Office Hours for questions and support.
WHAT DAYS DO STUDENTS ATTEND IN-PERSON?
- February Schedule for A Group: 2/1, 2/2, 2/8, 2/9, 2/16, 2/22, 2/23
- February Schedule for B Group: 2/4, 2/5, 2/11, 2/12, 2/18/, 2/19, 2/25, 2/26
Students are divided into A and B Groupings based upon program, grade, class size, and social distancing capacity of classrooms. Due to that, we are unable to accommodate requests for a change of groupings.
WHEN WILL STUDENTS FIND OUT WHICH GROUP THEY ARE IN?
WHAT DO STUDENTS DO ON DAYS THEY ARE NOT IN-PERSON?
WILL STUDENTS KEEP THE SAME CLASS SCHEDULE AND TEACHERS FOR SEMESTER 2?
Student schedules are based upon student need, program availability and social distancing capacity of classrooms. Due to that, we are unable to accommodate requests for schedule changes.
If you have questions about your schedule, please contact Mrs. Parks at a.parks@eatonville.wednet.edu.
WHAT DO STUDENTS BRING TO SCHOOL WITH THEM?

FACE COVERINGS
Students are required to wear a face mask, covering both the nose and mouth on buses and on school district property at all times. Students are responsible for supplying their own face coverings (face masks will be available to those in need).
Gaiters are an acceptable face cover as long as they are two layers thick. Single layered gators can be folded over to accomplish this. They may only be worn if they provide two layers of cloth, cover both the mouth and the nose and must be worn appropriately.
Alternatives to face masks are only an option in rare situations. These include students with disabilities, students under the age of 5, or students with medical conditions which prevent the use of masks. Medical verification will be required and questions should be directed to the student’s principal or the Student Services Department.
Please refer to the Washington State Department of Health Guidance on Cloth Face Coverings and CDC Recommendation Regarding the Use of Cloth Face Coverings for more information.
SOCIAL DISTANCING
- Social distancing guidelines will be strictly followed while students are on campus.
- Students must remain 6 feet apart from each other and from staff at all times.

ENHANCED HEALTH AND SAFETY MEASURES
LOCKERS/LOCKER ROOM:
- Per COVID-19 recommendations, students will not be using hallway lockers or the locker rooms. Students will need to carry their materials and Chromebooks with them from class to class
PASSING TIMES:
- Students will be passing from class to class on the outside of the building and will enter and exit through the exterior doors of classrooms. Because of this, we recommend that students dress in layers or have a coat/sweatshirt with them for cold and/or wet days.

CLEANING & DISINFECTION:
Custodial staff will conduct additional disinfecting and cleaning, utilizing Environmental Protection Agency certified disinfectants and ensure disinfection of frequently touched surfaces, such as door handles and restroom facilities.
Classrooms, offices, and restrooms will be cleaned throughout the day and as needed.
In addition to cleaning by the custodial staff, students will be provided with safe-to-use disinfecting wipes to allow them to wipe down their desk and chair prior to use each class period.
