Thank You!
Another big thank you to those of you that were able to join us on your child's Curriculum Night. We hope you all left with a great understanding of all of the strong instructional strategies we are using at Dyer. Please be sure to log into your child's eCLASS page and review homework and upcoming classroom assignments. (See below for links to some helpful parent resources.)
Remember, communication is key to our success. This year, Gwinnett County Public Schools is launching the School Messenger Notification System. This is a rapid notification system used to contact GCPS families via telephone messages, text messages, and email messages. The district will use the system to communicate information related to district wide events, including key school dates and closings due to inclement weather. Dyer will use the system to communicate information related to our local school events as well as automated attendance messages. Stay in the know by making sure we have an active email address on file for you, and opting in to receive text messages; you can do this by texting YES to 67587. You can also stay up to date by liking the Dyer Elementary School Facebook Page.
Attention 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade Parents!
Dear Dyer 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade Bears,
It is Chorus Registration Time! Hip Hip Hooray!!! Are you ready to be a Dalmatian in our stage production with a really awesome costume?
Fall chorus is a non-auditioned group of 3rd, 4th & 5th graders. The only requirement is that you have a positive attitude, want to sing and can demonstrate good behavior.
We are performing 101 Dalmatians on Thursday, December 7th at 7 PM in the Dyer Cafeteria.
Chorus is each Wednesday morning starting September 6th from 7:15-8:00. Drop-off is in the car rider line from 7:05-7:15. If you are the first car in line, please be courteous and pull all the way forward. This will accelerate the drop-off process. Please also drive carefully through the parking lot as our staff members and their children are making their way into the building. Safety is important at Dyer Elementary School. Also, due to space limitations, siblings are not permitted to attend rehearsals. Siblings may NOT be dropped off early on chorus days.
We will also have two mandatory after school rehearsals, Monday December 4th after school from 3-5:45 (this will also be the date of our pizza party), and full dress rehearsal on Wednesday, December 6th from 3-5:15.
Chorus fees are $45. This will help cover production and licensing fees, props, sets and a music shirt. This year we are only accepting payments online. To register for fall chorus simply go to MyPayments Plus, fill out the registration information and provide payment. Registration is first come first served until we have literally, 101 Dalmatians in the Chorus.
Students who are auditioning for speaking roles next week are highly encouraged to join chorus if they do not make the cut. We have 65 students auditioning for 20 speaking roles. We still want everyone to be a part of our show!
If you have any concerns, please contact me at Sherry_Coulombe@gwinnett.k12.ga.us.
***We are still in need of a choreographer. If you are interested, please contact me immediately.
“Sing”cerely,
Sherry Coulombe, Music Director
