Linguistic Accommodations & Assessments
When deciding if an accommodation is appropriate for an ELL, revisit their ELPS goals to determine if the strategy/accommodation aligns.

All linguistic accommodations that have been identified as appropriate for a student through their ELPS goal setting are allowable on DFAs & CBAs. Remember, the purpose is to assess mastery of the skill or TEK.
The "Turn & Talk" strategy is a quick and highly effective pre-writing strategy for all students including ELLs. This is a great strategy even if sentence stems and graphic organizers have already been provided.

If your teachers are needing additional support in setting student goals, Katie Walker and Maria Scott are available to provide support in PLCs, conference periods, or meetings scheduled by request.
Each ELL should have identified ELPS goals that align with their TELPAS Proficiency levels. We encourage teachers to communicate this information with both the ELL and the family so all participants may support the student's language acquisition.
