Lake Louise School

October 31st, 2021

Hello Lake Louise Families,

We had a blast at Lake Louise celebrating the Fall season this past week! Unfortunately our parade on Friday was canceled due to rain, but make sure you check out some photos from our indoor celebrations on the Lake Louise Facebook page!

We continue to work on our expected school behaviors at Lake Louise. Please take a look at our most recent areas of focus and review these expectations with your student. Your support is so appreciated!

The Lake Louise PTA has several exciting events coming up. Be sure to check out their section of this newsletter so you don't miss out!

District 15 Updates

Curriculum Updates

Starting this year and moving forward, all curriculum and program purchases will follow a new district Research, Design Implementation Model (RDIM). The RDIM is a cyclical review process that allows the district to research and pilot materials for district use on a regular basis. During an RDIM cycle pilot, volunteer teams of teachers, specialists and administrations review potential programs, participate in professional learning, implement assigned units and collaborate in discussion on what resources best serve our D15 students’ needs and align to our district’s instructional vision. Currently District 15 is engaging in 3 different pilot projects and we are implementing a new 6th grade math curriculum. The current three pilot projects are occurring in K-5 Math, 6-8 Science, and 7-8 English Language Arts. As we explore the differing features of programs and corresponding levels of student growth in learning, students in classes participating in pilots may have different materials, homework and grading practices during this time. For example, the number of graded assignments given may be different, and possibly less, as teachers are spending more time conferencing with students individually and in small groups to help guide students in their learning. Should you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

As a reminder, please ensure your child has a mask when coming to school each day. When possible, please send your child with an additional mask as students have had some wet or torn masks throughout the day. We appreciate your continued cooperation as we follow the guidance.

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

Doors used for exiting during dismissal:

  • Door 1: Busers for all grade levels
  • Door 4: Walkers/parent pick-up on foot
  • Door 5: Car Riders

Arrival & Dismissal Car Loop and Parent Pick-up

We have been reviewing our dismissal procedures at Lake Louise in order to improve our efficiency and safety. It is essential that we all follow our procedures so that all students can be picked up promptly and that our car pick-up line remains a safe process. Please read the following details carefully:

  • Pull as far forward as possible to the front of the student loading zone.
  • Follow the posted signs for no loading/no parking. U-turns are prohibited in the south lot. Parking along the South exit path is prohibited. Parking within the lot spaces is prohibited.
  • Stay aware throughout the car line. Reminder that cell phone use in a school zone is prohibited.
  • Students will be released and loaded into cars in the student loading zone on the passengers side of the car. Please pull all the way forward.
  • Students will not be allowed to cross into the parking lot or go across the exit path to waiting cars.
  • Cars must be in the car line and within the student loading zone for students to be released.
  • Stay in your car to keep the line moving.
  • No parking in the lot, on the south side of the exit path, or in the apartment complex lot across the street.
  • Exit the lot by turning right only onto Jonathan Drive.
