Hang in there!
We know this has been challenging for students, families and our staff. We recognize that many of you are essential workers and are not able to be at home with your children. We also know many of you are no longer able to work and this too causes hardships. Teachers are also trying to figure this out as many have children of their own at home, spouses who are still working out of the home, and spouses who are no longer working. Our world has been turned upside down. However, a few things remain constant: our staff cares about children and will do all they can to support them, PES staff are here to help you out in any way possible, and teamwork and collaboration is what will get us through these difficult times.
Thank you for all you are doing to support your children while they are unable to come to school. We wish more than anything to get back to our beautiful building and hear our classrooms and hallways filled with student chatter. As I walk through our empty school, I am sad we are missing out on being with your children, I am sad to not be spending time with my amazing staff, and it is disheartening to listen to the silence echo throughout the hallways. I am anxious for our return as much as all of you.
Hang in there!
Student Belongings Pick Up
Teachers have been working in their classrooms these past few weeks to gather student belongings and materials so we can get these back to you. We plan to distribute these materials next week on Monday and Tuesday.
We will have three separate areas for parents to pick up materials. Please carefully read how we will be doing this to ensure appropriate social distancing and no contact distribution. We appreciate your help with this and ask for your patience as you come to the school to gather your child's belongings.
Pick up times:
Monday, May 11th 10:00 am-6:00 pm & Tuesday 8:30-11:30 am
Grade 1 & 2 Parents:
Please use the Hathaway Road entrance and pull into the bus loop to pick up belongings.
Kindergarten, Grade 3 & Grade 4:
Please use Meadow Lane entrance and pull into the car loop to pick up belongings by cafeteria.
PreK, Grade 5 and Grade 6 Parents:
Please use Meadow Lane entrance and pull into staff parking lot and make a loop around to the gym doors.
- If you have more than one child in the school, please use the bus loop by the main entrance to pick up all belongings.
- All parents and students are to remain in their vehicles.
Staff will be outside to ask who you are picking materials up for and then someone will bring the bags outside and put them on a table. The staff outside will then either put the bags next to your vehicle or have you remove bags from the table once they are a safe distance away.
We will do our very best to have all materials for the same family gathered in one location to save time, but please be patient as we may need an extra minute or two to gather all belongings.

Community Unit
Starting the middle of May through the month of June, students from our eight elementary schools in MSAD#17 will engage in a community-wide unit of learning designed to answer the essential question: “What do we want our descendants to know about our community during the Spring of 2020?” The unit, created by teacher-leaders in the district, represents an effort to unite the community even while we are not physically in school together. During the five weeks of the unit, elementary students will be invited to engage in a variety of interdisciplinary learning activities that connect to various themes of community.
Week 1: Family Time
Week 2: Kitchen Cuisine
Week 3: Community Helper
Week 4: Nature
Week 5 Extra, Extra, Read All About It
Please find more information about this unit on our district web page at: http://www.msad17.org/Oxford-Hills-School-District/Curriculum/community-unit-spring-2020-0

REMINDER.....Please Update Your Contact Information
Teachers have been reaching out to families, but have had some difficulty reaching a few people. If you have not heard from the school via email, phone or through the School Messenger app within the last week, please contact us to provide the best phone number and email address that we can reach you at.
Teachers are using various communication apps and email to stay in contact with you. It is important you are checking these apps and your email for information from your child's teacher. and the school. We are working hard to keep all students engaged in some type of learning tasks during our school closure. If there is a better way for a teacher to contact you, be sure to let them know so you don't miss out on important information and updates.
Please contact us at 743-7802 to update your information so you will receive news from PES and the school district.
You can also reach out to the secretaries through email at:
Until further notice our secretaries will be answering phones Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
