The Weightman M.E.O.W.
Monthly Events Of Wildcats: September 2018
Principals Message
As we begin our second month into the school year, I want to share with you a motto I've developed, "Respect yourself and others, through your words and actions." This simple yet complex statement is a lens I use with students and staff interactions. I feel that this one statement can apply to a multitude of situations and people. My hope is that every member of the Wildcat community models these types of interactions so that we are #WildcatsMakingADifference!
Progress Reports & Report Cards
Parents will access student progress reports and report cards through their MyStudent account. I highly recommend that you set up an account NOW so that you have full access to these reports as well as your students attendance, grades, test scores and class assignments. Register for a "Parent MyStudent" account. Here is a step-by-step video to assist you with this process. Please communicate with your child's teachers when you have a question, are looking for help, or have a concern about an assignment or their grades.
Wildcat Binders
Since the beginning of the school year, we have been working with students on getting themselves organized with their academic responsibilities. This is being done through their Wildcat Binders as we are asking students to write down their assignments, homework and/or assessment dates. In addition, I'm seeing students use their Wildcat binder as a in/out location for assignments. There is an expectation that students have their Wildcat Binder with them every day as it also serves as their pass system during study hall. We ask all families to please reinforce this essential skill, by looking at the Wildcat binders each week. We will be sending home school wide information on Wednesdays in efforts to keep you better informed of different events taking place on campus.
Student Celebrations
We will be recognizing students on a quarterly basis. Each team will have the opportunity to select students to be recognized for demonstrating the characteristics of the Wildcat ROAR. Families are invited to this celebrations as we recognize students with a certificate, hear why they where chosen by their teachers, take photos and enjoy some refreshments. These celebrations take place at 9:20am in our Cafeteria. Our celebration for first quarter will be on October 10th.
Campus Activities:
Student Clubs
Students will be signing up for the club the week of Sept 4th through Social Studies classes. Club days require the school to run on an activity bell schedule and occur on the third Wednesday of the month (see calendar on website). Our first club day is Wednesday September 19th. Club days are always a fun day for all, as it allows students to engage in a common interest with peers they may not interact with on a daily basis. In addition, it allows our staff to interact with students in a different manner. This year we are extremely excited to have partnered with several organizations within the community such as St. Leo University's Basketball Team, Publix, Wesley Chapel High Schools Color Guard and the Lightning Street Hockey Program. We continue to look for additional volunteers to share their interests and hobbies with our students, if you interested, please contact Mrs. Mira.
Student Picture Day
This year student pictures will be taken by Gigante Productions, in the gymnasium on Friday, September 28th. Student photographs will be taken through Language Arts classes this year. All Language Arts teachers will escort their classes to the gymnasium at their scheduled time during each period. You may preorder student photos by visiting: https://vando.imagequiz.com/g1000649666#login . In addition, you may use the order form attached below "18-19 Fall TEWMS Picture Order Form". If you have any questions please contact Gigante Productions by calling (813) 907-1087 or visiting their website: www.giganteproductions.com. Our Picture Make-up day is scheduled for November 3, 2018.
