Parent - Teacher Conferences
- Kingsport City Schools will be closed for Parent - Teacher Conferences on Friday, February 9th.
- Mrs. Kerkhoff will be contacting parents to schedule conferences if their child's teacher(s) has requested a conference.

ACT Tips & Tricks
A FREE Week of ACT Tutoring will occur after school from 3:00-4:00 on February 5-9th.
The focus will be on improving scores on the English and Reading Sections of the ACT.
This will NOT be a lesson on punctuation or on reading, but on TIPS & TRICKS for getting a better score. If interested please see Mr. McCord.
RCAM Career Academy
The Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing (RCAM) is hosting information sessions for students interested in earning college credit and/or a certificate through their Career Academies.
This is an exciting opportunity for students to learn about enrolling in a Career Academy in Machine Tool Operations or Computer-Aided Drafting for the of Fall 2018!
Students will have the opportunity to earn both a college certificate and college credits toward a degree while in high school and possibly enter the workforce upon graduation as a certified Machine Tool Operator or Drafter. Currently, both professions have the potential of earning $20-$30 an hour in our region.
Students will attend class at D-B EXCEL and be provided transportation to and from the Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing downtown Kingsport for RCAM classes.
Current 10th graders - Monday, February 19th
- Students with last name beginning with A-L 5:30pm, M-Z 6:15pm
- Students with last name beginning with A-L 5:30pm, M-Z 6:15pm
ACT TEST DATE FOR JUNIORS
All 11th grade DBE students will take the ACT on April 3rd at DBE 7:45 am.
* Students will need to register for this on March 2nd at 8:30am at DBE. If you are not registered, you will not be able to test.

Dual Enrollment for the 2018-19 School Year
Are you going to be a Junior or Senior next year?
If so, would you like to take college classes at Northeast State while being a DBE student?
Representatives will be here from Northeast State to talk with rising 11th & 12th graders about dual enrollment options for next school year. This will include an overview of which courses are offered, what the requirements are, and answers to other questions. The representatives will come back in March to start the enrollment process for the Fall 2018 semester.

Calculators
All students who are enrolled in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, or Geometry are required to have a calculator. The following calculators are acceptable:

TI-84
TI-84 Plus
*Students are required to bring their calculator everyday.

Meets every Monday & Friday
Students can stay after any day to work on the robot as long as Miss A is present or has been notified.

Advisory Class
Per the KCS Student Handbook: Students who have more than nine (9) unexcused absences to any one class will not be permitted to participate in Prom or Graduation. They may also be eliminated from participating in certain field trips or extracurricular events.
Virtual Day Expectations
Virtual days are NOT a day off.
Virtual days are designated for students to work virtually.
Students are expected to complete any and all work their teachers assign to them on the virtual days.
- Coursework assigned on virtual days could include but is not limited to; written/paper assignments and assignments in Canvas to be completed online.
D-B EXCEL Student Norms
Students will report to school on time and prepared for the school day.
Students will bring fully charged laptops and a laptop charger every day.
Students will follow their schedule and report to the appropriate area.
Students will respect the DBE faculty, staff, visitors and other students at all times.
DBE Student Drivers
We have our own parking lot and the entrance and exit is on Roller St.
Students will need to sign up for a parking permit that will need to hang from their rearview mirror at all times (tinyurl.com/DBEparking)
Cars that do not have a car tag will be asked to be moved or will be towed.
If the DBE parking lot is full, there is an overflow public parking lot across the street from the Food City loading dock (On Roller St.)
DBE students/parents can only park in the parking spots marked D-BE/KCS in the DBE parking lot. DBE students/parents cannot park in the Chamber or medical parking lots or they will be towed.
Replacement car tags will be $10.
Car Riders & Bus Riders
Students may be dropped of at DBE beginning at 7:15am. Students arriving after 7:45am will be counted tardy.
Please follow the traffic pattern.
- Car riders will be dismissed after the bus leaves (Approximately 2:35pm)
Bus riders will board their normal bus in the morning and then board the DBE bus at DB.
The DBE bus will arrive at DBE about 7:30am.
Bus riders will be dismissed at the 2:30pm bell.
- The bus will take students to the D-B main campus where they will then board their bus to take them home.
