On Friday, our amazing PTO hosted Covington's Winter Carnival. Students had so much fun participating in arts and crafts and even a snow ball fight! Students also got to jump in a bouncy house and race eachother in an opstical course. On top of all of that, each student recieved a delicious cheese pizza lunch.
Each year, the yearbook club asks students to submit artwork to be featured on that year's yearbook front and back cover! Members of the yearbook club look at potential designs for the yearbook provided by Balfour, OLHMS' yearbook provider, and vote on the theme for the year.

On Thursday, December 22nd, 2022, Kolmar had their Winter concert. Students in grades K-2 and Chorus put on an unbelievable performance! Each group performed 3 songs. They also used different instruments, props and choreography. There were jingle bells, scarves, and ribbons that added so much to the show!
During the first week back after a long winter break, first graders participated in a STEM challenge to build the biggest snowman they could from one 6 foot sheet of white bulletin board paper.
On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, Hometown School hosted the annual Title 1 Family Literacy Night. This event is offered to all students and their families. Each family received a goody bag that had a schedule of which games they would play throughout the evening.
At the Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Board of Education meeting on January 23, 2023 the Board of Education approved Dr. Patricia Gonzalez as the new Director of English Learning and Ms. Meagan Doornbos as the new principal of Hannum Elementary school.
