Field Flash
May 17, 2021
Dear Field Parents and Guardians,
We were all glad to see the sunshine this week, even in the temperatures were a bit chillier that we'd like! We were so proud of our students in grades 2-5 this week for their efforts on the MAP tests for reading and math!
Elmore "Kiss and Go"
Over the last few days, we've had several parents report that the Park Ridge Police have been present on Elmore after school and have been actively ticketing parents who either leave their car parked and unattended on the west side of the street in the "kiss and go" area or who park on the east side of the street where there is no parking. As a Field community, we aren't certain why the Police Department has begun ticketing at this point, so we wanted to be sure you were aware and can plan accordingly. As with morning arrival, if you have a little one who needs to be picked up at the door, please be sure to park legally a block or two away.
Dismissal
As the weather warms up, we know many families are remaining after school on our black top and playground. Please know that there is not school supervision after school, and parents are asked to actively supervise the children in their care. Roughhousing, play fighting, and/or physical contact are not permitted during the school day, and we'd appreciate our students refraining from these behaviors while on school grounds after school, too. Thank you!
Incoming Kindergarten Orientation
We were glad to see many parents at last week's Kindergarten Orientation. We emailed a link to the video presentation, which is also posted on our website here. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
Student Registration for 2021-2022
Please do complete your child(ren)'s registration for next school year as soon as possible. In order to be placed into a class, your child does need to be fully registered. So the sooner we have that information, the better we are! Thanks for your attention to that. If you have questions, please connect Ruth in the main office.
Mask Wearing, Social Distance, Lanyards, Taking your Child's Temperature
- It is important for us to remain vigilant with our children's mask wearing, social distancing, and the daily self-certification/lanyards.
- Please review proper mask wearing with your child(ren), ensuring they know and understand the importance of keeping the mask over their nose and mouth. Also, please be sure masks remain on during arrival and dismissal.
- Each morning, we depend on our parents to self-certify their children's health. This means taking your child's temperature and reviewing the checklist of COVID-19 symptoms. The lanyard is the signal to us that you've done this health check. Thank you for your diligence with this important task.
- We appreciate your continued support!
Student Dress Code
As the weather warms up (hopefully!), please do take a look at the student-parent handbook online which details our District 64 student dress code. Please be sure students are wearing appropriate clothing (shorts, shirts, tank tops). Thank you!
We hope that you and your family have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney Goodman
Principal

In-Person Learning Reminders
- Our 3 Ws: wear a mask, watch your distance, and wash your hands.
- Please have children wear a mask and bring an extra in their backpack.
- Please review arrival and dismissal information below.
- Please be sure students bring their school device (ipad or chromebook) with them to school FULLY CHARGED.
- Students should wear their lanyards each day to signal their health has been verified by an adult. New in-person students will receive their lanyards on their first day of in-person attendance.
- Please be sure that if your child is in 2nd/5th/3rd Lehr/Balogi they are bringing their beach towel in a labeled bag. They can leave the labeled bag/towel at school during the week, taking it home on Fridays for laundering. The labeled bag helps us stay organized - thank you!
MEDICATION PICK-UP AS SCHOOL ENDS
Dear Parent/Guardian:
If your child has been taking medication at school, please plan to pick up any remaining in the school health office on the last day of school, June 10, 2021. Medication not claimed by the last day of school will be discarded. Please do not pick up emergency medication prior to the last day of school.
Medication prescribed for use during the upcoming school year (2021-22) requires submission of a new Medication Authorization Form (and Allergy Action Plan and Asthma Action Plan, if applicable). Forms are available on the Health Services page of the District 64 website.
If your child is attending Worlds of Wonder or Extended School Year (ESY) you are responsible for transporting medication to the summer school location, and for picking it up at the end of the session(s).
Please call the Building Nurse in your child’s school health office if you have questions.
Best wishes for a safe, healthy, and happy summer!
