Heritage Night
The PTO would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the many families, volunteers and students who made Heritage Night 2019 an amazing success!!! We were so pleased with the turn-out and level of participation from so many!! Our wonderful families came, shared, taught and enjoyed so many amazing recipes, traditions and experiences with our Bobcat family! What an amazing evening for all!
World Kindness Day
Another incredible PTO happening to highlight this week, was our amazing celebration of World Kindness Day! Our wonderful, PTO Director of Exceptional Children, Tachi Hahn, had a vision for a school Kindness Tree and enlisted some incredibly talented parents to create this remarkable tree! We want to thank Tachi Hahn, Aki Yoo, Song Kim and Katie Spring for all their work and incredible creativity as Brookwood's Kindness Tree came to fruition in the hallway just outside the cafeteria! It is amazing and you really must check it out!
Our Kindness Tree has heart-shaped leaves that anyone can come by and fill out to share acts of kindness or words of kindness about others. We plan to share some of these acts of kindness on the morning news throughout the month! The Kindness Tree will remain on Brookwood Blvd hallway, near the cafeteria, until the Thanksgiving Break. Please remind your students to stop by and visit our Kindness Tree!

The Place Holiday House - A Place of Joy
In a few short months, the air will be filled with smells of the holidays and the atmosphere will carry feelings of merriment, good wishes, and joy. For many in the Forsyth County area, however, the Holiday season is met with stress, fear, and sadness. As these parents work to make it day-to-day, Christmas morning is simply an expense they cannot afford.
Last year, The Place Holiday House helped these parents provide Christmas joy for over 2,000 children. We hope you'll let The Place Holiday House be your PURPOSE this holiday season. To see what you can do to help, simply click https://bit.ly/2qmSmqr

We are thrilled to present SCREENAGERS: Growing Up in the Digital Age, a documentary about the biggest parenting issue of our time.
Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that happening with her own kids and began a quest to uncover how it might impact their development. As with her other two award-winning documentaries on mental health, Ruston takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and also offers solutions on how adults can empower their kids to best navigate the digital world to find balance.
SCREENAGERS addresses the most pervasive parenting issue of our time head on—depicting teen struggles over social media, video games and internet addiction. The film empowers kids to best navigate the digital world and provides practical resources to help them do it.
Family Connect Nights!
Brookwood works with our middle and high school feeder schools to have a combined Family Connect Night once a month. This night is designed to put down homework and connect as a family. Some great ideas are to try something new, cook dinner together, have a puzzle night, game night, go for a walk or anything where you change up your routine and be in the moment! Be on the lookout for how we will post pics of your awesome Family Night!
