LIFT Weekly Update
All about the Student Ministries at First Baptist Covington
I hope your family has had a blessed Advent season so far. My guess is, however, that your heads are probably spinning from all of the parties, performances, and practices! Stick with us when you can, because we've got some awesome stuff coming up!
Tomorrow is the last Prayer Breakfast of 2015! Believe it or not, school will be coming to a close before long. So, we'll finish it out tomorrow with some Christmas Pancakes!
We've got a very special LIFT happening Wednesday because it is Student Testimony Night! We'll spend the whole evening in worship, playing a couple games, and celebrating what God has done in the lives of our students. If your student would like to share, I still have a couple of slots left!
And don't forget that next Wednesday, Dec. 16th, is our annual LIFT Christmas Party! On that night, students will bring THEIR OWN MONEY (around $20 is a good start) so that we can separate them into groups and give them the Christmas list of a less-fortunate child so we can all go to Walmart, buy gifts, bring them back, wrap them, eat food, and party! It's an extended night, so plan to arrive by 5:45pm and be finished by 8pm.
I regret to inform you that the High School Ski Trip is cancelled. We simply didn't have enough registrations to support the trip. However, be on the lookout for a fun winter activity coming up in late January just for High Schoolers!
Mark your calendars for Sunday January 10th. We are hosting a one-day conference for parents and teenagers called, "Devices: Living and Parenting in a World of Technology." It will be an incredible night that will equip your family to approach all the technology in your life with biblical wisdom. We're bringing in Adam McLane, author of "The Parents Guide to Social Media," as well as several other experts in various areas. The conference will be FREE, and you definitely don't want to miss it! Please register your family HERE so that we can have a head count.

Follow-Up Questions For Parents
· What does the metaphor of being a LIVING STONE mean to you?
· What does it mean for Jesus to be the cornerstone of your entire life?
· What does Jesus have to do with how you act at school…your dating choices…what you watch and listen to…who you marry…the job you choose…etc.?
· Outside of the normal ways that we think of Christians behaving differently (like not drinking, cussing, being mean, having sex outside marriage, etc.), how else will people see your faith?
· What does it take to actually lead people to God and not just sit back and hope they see Him in you?
