Building Champions in Academics, Character, and Community

Panther Nation

As we enter 2021, the beginning quotes from Charles Dickens' book A Tale of Two Cities definitely come to mind. “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”

I could not remember what "epoch of incredulity" means, so I looked it up (apologies to past English teachers). Incredulity is the state of being unwilling or unable to believe in something. That might be the most appropriate phrase to describe 2020, but this post is not about politics or science. It's about kids.

As the country seems to be more and more divided, there is one thing that always brings a small Texas community together, and that is football. Watching the community rally around the Liberty Hill football team and watching them cheer on the Panthers on Friday nights gives us all a little escape from the craziness around us and focus on what is important, family, friends, and community.

So whether this Friday brings you to Bryan, Texas, or has you gathering around the TV or the radio for Friday's game, I challenge you to fill your social media stream with positive statements and pictures about LH, your family, and this great community. Let's show the epoch of belief in our students and community.

For me, Liberty Hill will always be the best of times and the season of light.

New LHISD Quarantine Protocol

With COVID on the rise in the district and Williamson County in stage red, our district quarantine protocol will be changing. We will incorporate the CDC recommendation with 7/10/14 day quarantine windows depending on specific circumstances. The infographic below illustrates the new guidelines.

Please stay diligent with the safety protocols in place and continue to monitor your family. If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home. We want to prevent the spread and keep everyone healthy and schools open.

Panther Praise

Congratulations to our first Panther Praise recipient Ms. Ashlynn Volek from Rancho Sienna Elementary! We're excited to showcase the staff going above and beyond every day as we continue to build champions.

What a great story shared by a parent on how Ms. Volek is making a difference in her child's life.

You can read about it on the Panther Praise Wall located on the Communications Department website.

Looking forward to hearing more about all the great things happening in our district!

Nominate your champion!

Community Partner

Agape BBQ is a new restaurant in Liberty Hill that has jumped into partnering with the district on several community events. If you haven't had a chance to go by and meet the friendly owners or staff, grab a bite to eat, or relax in their outdoor living, you're missing out!

Football

The Panther train has continued to roll strong through the holiday break, with two games that tested their prowess on their opponents' aerial attacks. They came out with the win against Leander Glenn (56-42), capturing the Regional title and the 100th win for Coach Jeff Walker. LH hit the road traveling to San Antonio for a nail-biting three hours that tested all our patience. The Panthers remained #Walkertough and victorious, beating the Diamondbacks in the Quarterfinals 56-53.

Bryan is our destination this Friday, where we'll face off with the Crosby Cougars in the State Semi-Final Playoff game. We'll see the boys off with a community send-off through town and the campuses. We are so proud of these dedicated and driven players and coaches; it's been fun to watch them in action as they play with heart and that Panther grit!

Here are some choices in how you can watch or listen to the Panthers in action:

TV: KBVO

Live streaming: www.Texanlive.com

Radio live: Vype.com
